Rewatching Voyager

I took your advice and watched the second movie with Khan. It must be me but I didn't get any wiser. Where were there any wars mentioned in the first place? And these eugenics in particular? I'm sorry but ... can you tell me what's going on?


Without wishing to become too repetitive, I've just watched the second movie and felt exactly the same way. It was very slow and hardly anything happened.
The only good thing was that I think I understand the last ST movie with Benedict et al a bit better. Otherwise it was just tedium. It's strange because Voyager is often not exactly action-packed, either and I still love every second of it. It must be the characters and all that love that there is among them, I guess.

By the sounds of it I'm pleased I didn't continue onto number two. And yes I know what you mean, Voyager does not rush epsiodes and pack them full of action. Some have no fighting at all, some just focus on a singular story good example of that is that lifeforms thst takes over the ship and mixes all the corridors (Que Mr Paris for an epsiode name) I enjoyed that episode even thought the story was slow as you say the characters just make the show with fab dialogue and great interactions.

I think the reason I prefer VOY to TNG is Becuase it does just move thst little bit faster if you know what I mean? Like for example the self destruct sequence in Voyager is like computer self destruct Janeway Pi11alpha (someone her probably knows that actual code xD) where on TNG it literally takes an absolute age xD and I think that's why I prefer it. Not to say TNG is bad at all I have really enjoyed some episodes I watched of it especially anything to do with Data.

Thanks. I know DOCTOR BASHIR, I PRESUME so I understand that this has something to do with genetically enhanced individuals. I never knew, however, that there were actually wars because of this.

Well, I really don't want to influence your decisions ... You should give it a try. Like I said, for me it's definitely the most boring of all Trek shows but then I'm bored with Picard, too and it seems that you like that show to a certain extent. So maybe you'd appreciate ENT more.

I beileve the only reason I like some epsiodes of TNG are because data or Warf plays a key role. Personally I think Picard is monotomous and I don't really like Riker either. Just those two character I like as they both often add a little light hearted touch to the show. I think the most memorable episode of TNG is when the crew are looking at crew assignments and promotions, and quite a junior officer comes back dead after being sent on a really dangerous away mission don't know it's name. There defenitly might be better episodes out there however.

I think if I ever run out of TV I might try ENT but atm I'm watching Star gate universe, Orphan black and NCIS. But really this is what I'm looking forward tohttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_(2017_TV_series)

Ahh! I know right, I've enjoyed this season so much. I really can't wait to see what happens with the cure. I swear if Cosmia dies I'll be so sad ; (. I also quite like Ira although his relationship with Susan is unusual to say the least! I also really hope Delphine comes back! So many different stories, it's amazing. Also mean who doesnt love Alison and donnie xD I've probably just mentioned like 50 different people I love haha but really Tatinia Malasy Is the real god of the show so insanely talented :P

Also when do you think Helena might come back she's been gone for quite a few epsiodes now

Beats me. I've noticed on these fora (here as well as on Facebook) that many people hate the holodeck episodes. As for me, I love most of them. On Voyager, Leonardo da Vinci is undoubtedly my favourite holographic character - if I were aboard, I'd love to become his apprentice (together with Janeway, of course). I quite like the Paxau Resort, too - that Caribbean atmosphere would be a welcome change after my shift on the Bridge is over. And for a genuinely exciting story I'd turn to the insurrection programme - now that one seems to be more exciting than any amount of crime stories .

Personally I think Picard is monotomous and I don't really like Riker either.

Picard for me is simply unbearable - I'm not sure I'm using this expression correctly but I've read somewhere that he is anally retentive? Does that mean he is not flexible enough? If so, then I definitely agree with this.
However, Picard is by far not the biggest problem for me with TNG. The problem is boredom. I once watched the whole series, then started it again and got stuck in the middle of Season 4. I just couldn't bear to watch it beyond that point and simply gave up. Interestingly enough, the opposite happened to me in the case of Deep Space Nine. I didn't really like it on the first viewing (although I liked it more than TNG on the first viewing) but I found it better for the second time and now that I'm watching it for the third time, it appears to be pretty good.

I definitely don't like Worf and the whole stuff about Klingon rituals (mercifully we have very little of this on VOY and there it is okay) but if you do, I can heartily recommend DS9 to you. He joins in Season 4 (THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR) - he is probably supposed to be the Seven of Nine of DS9, although he falls behind her in every respect. Although of course, that might be just me but I do think Seven is a lot more interesting than Worf ever was.

Everyone except me is so excited about the new Star Trek series. I was also very keen at the beginning but now that it seems it's not going to happen after Voyager - I had hoped for a series in the 25th century - I've lost my enthusiasm.

Yes, airing on BBC America. It's the show I'm most excited about at the moment.

My favourite Kes episode is BEFORE AND AFTER, too. It's a pity we can't see Kes any more in the sequel, i.e. in YEAR OF HELL.
As for me, I am happy they didn't stick to Kes's darker side. For me she was always a kind and delicate creature who brought a lot of warmth to the show. Nevertheless, I like WARLORD, and what I appreciate even more than the actual episode is the outfit she wore on that one. It was superb, IMO.
Plus WARLORD is the episode in which the Paxau simulation is introduced for the first time and whenever an episode takes place there, I feel that it's an additional bonus. I wish I could be there - instead I am here in Central Europe, where summer seems to be more like autumn at the moment ...

I agree. However, this is not the main reason I like the holodeck but rather because on a holodeck you can do things that you can't in real life. E.g. organizing an insurrection or even better go back to the Second World War. Not to mention meeting aliens from the eighth dimension in the Captain Proton programme or falling in love with a 19th century Irish bartender ... you name it. It's interesting we haven't seen it used as an arena for a pop concert - if I were on Voyager, I'd do it all the time.

( Be careful throwing that word around though haha :P ).

This is exactly how I feel. No matter how much more he sticks to the letters of the rules I am simply bored by him. Janeway, on the other hand, is full of surprises and this makes her so much more interesting to watch.
Not that I couldn't relate to her decisions. All of them, actually, except the one in ENDGAME. I never thought she made a mistake or acted rashly. 99% of the time I would have done the same thing.

Season 1 is a bit slow with some interesting episodes, mainly towards the end. THE DUET in particular springs to mind - one of DS9's best, IMO. I also like CAPTIVE PURSUIT somewhere at the beginning - that alien (called Tosk) was pretty likeable, I thought.

Then comes StarGate-SG-1 - my favourite of the franchise. Then, there are two more movies (called SG: THE ARK OF TRUTH and SG: CONTINUUM). This is then followed byStarGate Atlantis with Mr Shepherd in the main role (played by the very sexy Joe Flanigan ). The last series is StarGate Universe and it's exactly because of Rush that I don't like it .
And no, he mercifully doesn't appear in the other SG shows.
Word of warning: SGU is basically unfinished - be prepared.

Maybe not a darker Kes, but this Kes kind of had more personality. Maybe this is Kes's Timeless, where in that episode Kim got a whole lot more personality just by being a little darker. I hate when the writers use the "We don't know how to write for this character" excuse, when if you think about it for a few minutes based on the material you have, you have a bit of a guideline for how to write for said character.

Indeed, the Holodeck is a fantastic way to create stories that would not normally be able to be created, particularly WW2 as you say, I really enjoyed these episodes with the Hirojen. You saw a really different side to them (Well some of them..).

And absolutely agree with that I think she makes calculated decisions considering her crew's life completely above her own. I also very much enjoy pissed off Janeway e.g. In Scientific Method (YES I REMEMBERED AN EPISODE NAME!! ) her decision at the end was rash but just fit the episode perfectly. I must say Tuvok say's one of his killer lines at the end of that episode. It would definitely be in my top 3 lines for him haha xD

I've indeed heard about it being unfinished ;( but I've watched 8 episodes of it now xD but yes I do go rather off topic! I'll pm you about it :P
