What are the movies you love to watch when you want a bit of fun and get yourself into a fun mood?

List your choices. For me I like a lot of movies that in general seem to draw a lot of flak or people don't like because it's hip to do that, especially on places like IMDB where movie hate threads seem to dominate no matter what film you are reading about. The forums become heated. Anyway yeah I don't give a flying fvck what people think and I like the movies I like and some of them feel like they were made just for me..

Anyway on with the list.. Note: this isn't a complete list for me but these are the most favourite of all the movies I have.

The adventures of Baron Munchausen
Ice Pirates
The Island
Jupiter Ascending
The Core
The One
Innerspace
Fantastic Voyage
John Carter
Independence Day
Colossus: The Forbin Project
Mannequin
Oblivion
Freejack
The Golden Compass (wish the studio had had the balls to do the trilogy) Just purchased all the novels
Lost In Space 1998 movie
Mission To Mars
Clockstoppers
Thunderbirds movie
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
Hansel & Gretel Wich Hunters
Journey To The Centre Of The Earth (both versions)
The Time Machine (both)
Titan AE
The Last Witch Hunter

Freejack is awesome for having Mick Jagger in it, if for no other reason.

Super Troopers and The Big Lebowski are two movies that I rely on to get me out of my bad moods.

Good choices.

Yeah I love Freejack for the amount of cheese in it. It's fun and did you notice the building in that movie looks a hell of a lot like the freedom tower?

Innerspace

I'd list these too and...

Smokey and the Bandit
Wheels on Meals
The Fifth Element

I'm not seeing the "fun" in some of these choices...

Two movies I will almost always stop and watch for light fun are Overboard and Miss Congeniality.

Doc Hollywood
Uncle Buck
Fast Times At Ridgemont High
.....
The Day After
Testament
On The Beach
Ravenous

The Day After
Testament
On The Beach
If these are your "fun" choices, I'd hate to see your "bad mood" choices.

I like Short Circuit, too.

Some of my own choices:

Clue
Paint Your Wagon
Scavenger Hunt
Romancing the Stone
Jewel of the Nile
Crocodile Dundee
Toy Story 2 (I saw these out of order; this one's my favorite)

In general, old horror films and monster movies are my comfort food. Black-and-white Universal classics like THE WOLF MAN or THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, Hammer Films from 60s and 70s, drive-in sci-fi movies from the 50s . . . that kind of thing. Also: classic movie musicals like SINGIN' IN THE RAIN and SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS.

Beyond that, and just off the top of my head:

FLASH GORDON (1980)
BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA
BARBARELLA
LOGAN'S RUN
THE RAVEN (with Vincent Price and Peter Lorre)
JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS (my favorite Harryhausen movie)
BRIDES OF DRACULA (my favorite Hammer vampire flick)
NORTH BY NORTHWEST (the most fun Hitchcock movie)
STAR TREK IV: THE ONE WITH THE WHALES
MY FAVORITE YEAR with Peter O'Toole
JAWS
THEATER OF BLOOD (Vincent Price again)
and many more I can't remember right now. :)

A Hard Day's Night
Blazing Saddles
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
O' Brother Where Art Thou
Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Blues Brothers
Grease
This Is Spinal Tap
All You Need Is Cash
Animal House

For me The Blues Brothers hasn't aged that well.

The only fun I got from it was the bit with the car sliding through the shopping mall on its roof.

Another couple of fun movies I forgot to mention before:

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
