New Justice League Animated Series Coming to Cartoon Network

I was at TARGET the other day and a little girl wouldn't stop asking her dad to buy the Teen Titans Go dvd

I though that was funny
Anecdotal, of course, but based on my family Teen Titans Go is a favorite of kids of both genders and a wide age range and hated by many of the adults lol. This uncle is guilty of asking his niece to speak like Starfire on numerous occasions though...

And neither is Boyd Kirkland to direct episodes

Also I think we're overdue for a comedic series with the justice league. It's has be attempted once right?

;)

Well, you had 12 years of Hanna-Barbera's idiotic Super-Friends series, which used humor in some seasons to unintentional humor when it was just so awful in other seasons, including the "serious" Galactic Guardians & Legendary Super Powers versions.

New artwork revealed at Kre8tif Conference this weekend has revealed some new characters:

From what I can make out:

Blue Beetle, Riddler?, Doctor Fate, Captain Marvel/Shazaam, Doctor Light, Mr. Terrific?, Joker
Clayface?, Firestorm, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter
Big Barda, Ra's al Ghul?, Harley Quinn, Hawkman, Lobo, ???, ???

Ew, I'm tired of these pointy ugly designs that are so popular. And I'm especially tired of all these series where the Batman design just keeps getting incrementally worse.

The guy next to Firestorm looks more like Swamp Thing than Clayface to me. The guy on the bottom right behind the pole might be Black Mask, maybe. As for the woman between him and Lobo, my best guess is Satan Girl.

Odd that they have Barda but not Mr. Miracle.

Maybe he'll come in later.
I've never heard of Satan Girl before.

Teen Titans Go is actually pretty good if you give it a chance. It's frustrating because it's a constant reminder of what we've lost, and the writers love to rub the old show in our faces, but if you can get past that you're left with a pretty funny take on the DC heroes.

Or the concept art there isn't comprehensive.

Neither have I. I just Googled "DC Comics devil woman" and that was the most plausible result.

Man, how times have changed. Now we see the original Teen Titans as the serious, dramatic one, but in its time it was widely trashed for being goofy and cartoony compared to the DCAU shows. (Of course, it was a mix of both.)

I am going to take some wild guesses on who that is between Blue Beetle and Doctor Fate.

Something about that design seems retro the little we can we of it. He seems to be wearing a red bow tie and a green jacket.
Jimmy Olsen? Snapper Carr??? The bow tie could mean a very thin Toyman. Or none of the above at all!

I like those designs. I'm surprised they're going with the jester design for Harley, with pretty much every other version moving away from that, I would have expected something closer to one of the other versions, like the DC Superhero Girls version, her Suicide Squad movie costume, or her current costume in the comics.

I'm glad they're using the Jester Harley, I hate literally every other design they've tried to give her. As to why they're using it, apparently Paul Dini is involved with the show. Even if he's just writing a few episodes, that could be enough for that version of Harley (which I'm betting Dini prefers) to be put in the show. Plus, the SS movie and HQ comic are both for people older then the probable projected age range for this cartoon, so they probably don't want to get the kids to associate those designs with Harley and then go read/watch something that isn't appropriate for them.

That's just my guess/opinion on why we got Jester Harley, though. Overall the designs are ok, and I want the show to be good. But, Cartoon network doesn't want good superhero shows based on factors Paul Dini has talked about and how CN treated Young Justice and GReen Lantern. So, I'm hoping for the best, but my expectations are very low.

I've seen some on the net thinking the guy on the bottom right is the Batman villain Mr. Camera. They don't realize the guy's face is being blocked by an iPhone on a selfie stick.

As for the devil girl, it could be a slightly re-designed version of the Superman villain Blaze. At the very least, Cartoon Network would probably be more comfortable with that name than Satan Girl.

Well, there's also the Superhero Girls design, and I specially said more family friendly versions of the other ones. The jester Harley is actually my least favorite design. I know it's the big iconic version, but I think the newer costumes are a better fit for the current approach to the character.

Well, like my second paragraph said, the Superhero Girls version doesn't look like it even remotely fits with JLAction's style, especially if Harley is just being a villain.

The current comics costume might fit the current approach to the character, but I hate that character. She's Deadpool with girl parts. Nothing more, and nothing less. That's the better of the two New 52 Harley's, too. The Suicide Squad Harley doesn't even have much of a personality. None of what made Harley a character people loved so much she transcended the cartoon to become a part of the larger DC universe exists in the New 52 version. New 52 Harley has nothing in common with Paul Dini's character outside of a similar backstory and civilian name.

So, with Paul Dini writing for the cartoon, I imagine we'll see something like the real, iconic Harley for the first time since 2011. Even if she's very toned down, I'm excited. With the horrible comics version informing the even more in-name-only movie version, I was questioning if I'd ever see a new story with the real Harley again. Even if JLAction is just Teen Titans Go! with the Justice League, its almost guaranteed to have the best version of Harley in years. Since she's basically my favorite DC villain (after the Batman TAS Joker), her reveal on that poster has made me really want to give the show a chance.
