Birds

I have new pictures of birds since I last posted in this thread. I will post some in a couple of hours time.

Cool. After going through the guide (just the section on songbirds) page by page, I now think they are a pair of female Brown-headed Cowbirds now. Though it is supposed to "summer" in northern New England and it's only May. But again, we had a mild winter so...

These are Pied Oystercatchers

I am trying to get a good picture of a Sooty Oystercatcher, this is the best I have managed so far.

I just saw a really neat bird in my back yard. Didn't get a chance to get a pic of it though. It was small, brownish with white and rust on its chest with speckles. My mom thought it might be a starling, but I'm not sure.

Was out camping this weekend. On Saturday, there was a grouse hanging out for a long time in a tree quite high up. Managed to get a few good pictures of it.

Awesome. I wonder if someone can brighten and add warm tones to the grouse with enough contrast between the bird and the leaves, using a photoshop software. I miss having a good software.

One thing I'm looking forward with the move to Texas- They have cool birds. I used to see large heron-like birds (blackish red) standing on grass at night. I never got close to have a better view for identification.

I did lighten it up a bit already. It was a much darker image initially, with no details of the grouse showing. But that's the extent of my skills until I can get something better.

I took a quick shot at it:

Also, coincidentally, there were turkeys at my Mother's house last Saturday. They were just inside the treeline, but I got some pictures of one of them:
