Favorite superhero/supervillain/comicbook teams

Showdown

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
With a bunch of superheroes teaming up this summer, it's time to ask...
What are your favorite(s) superhero/comicbook teams?
- Teams (formal teams that work together on a regular basis)
- Team-ups (when 2 or more characters just meet up and start working together)
- teams with heroes, anti-heroes, villains, or a mixture of any two.
- any teams you want to see portrayed more in comic books, TV, or movies?

Here are mine:
Favorite formal teams are the Justice League, Avengers, X-Men, and Ninja Turtles
Yeah, they are all so good, I can't decide on my absolute favorite. Good character dynamics made them interesting and fun to read about or watch. There are so many more great teams I really like, and it's tough to narrow it down to a few.

Favorite superhero team-up is World's Finest (Batman/Superman) before they formed the Justice League.
I like how they are opposites. Shadow and light, technology and superpowered, realist and idealist. Reminds me a tiny bit of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, which is my favorite character duo in all Star Wars. I could see Iron Man and Captain America becoming Marvel's World's Finest.

Favorite villain team is the Brotherhood of Mutants. Probably because they get a lot development and the fact they believe themselves as heroes.

Favorite villain team-ups are Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn and Live Wire & Parasiste.
Harley Quinn is always fun to watch, but I think Ivy is the best match for her. I like the Live Wire & Parasite because of their episode. Superman and the villains used their heads a lot, which is a huge plus. It was like a chess game, ending with a de-powered Superman outsmarting Parasite, who had all the powers. Awesome.

Favorite hero/antihero/villain team ups are Xavier & Magneto, Spider-Man & Venom, and Witchblade & Darkness. It's always great to see Xavier and Magneto work together since they are old friends, with the X-Men and the Brotherhood. I just really like it when Spidey and Venom team up.

Teams I want see more are Deadpool and Wolverine. They would be badass and play off each other well. I would love to see more cross overs for the JLA and the Avengers as they work together more. A few issues just isn't enough.

What are your favorites? You don't need to have one in every category or any explanation.

I'm going to give a shout-out to THE DEFENDERS, because, damn it, somebody has to.

Seriously, I was a huge DEFENDERS fan back in the day, especially when it was being written by the late Steve Gerber. I wish the new TV show well, but for me the Defenders will always be Doctor Strange, Namor, The Hulk, Valkyrie, Nighthawk, Hellcat, and that crowd . . . .

Although the recent all-female DEFENDERS revival, led by Val and Misty Knight, was a lot of fun and deserved to last longer than it did.

I've got to go with the X-Men, Justice League and Avengers. They're great combinations of heroes with different types of powers, and personalities. The only other team I have any real experience with is the Fantastic Four, but I'm not really familiar enough with them to call them a favorite.
Superman/Batman teams ups are usually pretty good.

As for teams of villains and anti-heroes, Gail Simone's runs on SECRET SIX have been consistently great: blackly funny and perverse

Along with many of the above mentioned, I want to give a shout-out to the Heroes for Hire, Power Man and Iron Fist. You wouldn't think at first that teaming up a black man who grew up in the streets of Harlem and a billionaire white boy who grew up in a mystical magic land would be such a natural and enduring team, but here we are. Their friendship, chemistry and partnership has always been believable and organic. Through thick and thin, they are brothers, partners and friends.

My favorite hero teams.

Warlock and the Infinity Watch.
We have some of the members already introduced in the movies. Pip needs to be on the big screen.

I'm going to restrain my answers to one from DC and one from Marvel (along with a few honorable mentions), otherwise the list would be ridiculously long

Teams (formal teams that work together on a regular basis)
DC: The Justice Society of America. I love the JLA, but the JSA has always been ahead of them for me. Their history and team dynamic is always cool. Whether its a story about the WW2 team or the modern one, the JSA will always be my favorite. Honorable Mentions: Birds of Prey (pre-New 52 reboot), Legion of Superheroes

Marvel: I have to go with X-Factor, specifically the Peter David version with Maddrox, Wolfsbane, Siryn, M, Strong Guy, Shatterstar, Longshot, Layla Miller and Rictor. This version's run is easily one of my favorite comic runs ever. Great writing, and great characters. I didn't have any history or connection with the team before I discovered the run, but I quickly became a fan. Honorable Mentions: New Avengers (team from Bendis's first run), X-Men (any team, really)

Team-ups (when 2 or more characters just meet up and start working together)
DC: Superman and Batman. A classic team up, nothing really needs to be said about it. Honorable Mentions: Booster Gold/Blue Beetle, Hal Jordan/Oliver Queen

Marvel: Cable and Deadpool. Two great characters that go together like peanut butter and chocolate.
Honorable Mentions: Luke Cage and Iron First, Spider-Man and Wolverine

Teams with anti-heroes, villains, or a mixture of any two.
DC: Gail Simone's Secret Six. Just an awesome team of characters that, even when they're evil, you care about them. Honorable Mention: Suicide Squad (John Orstrander's version)

Marvel: The classic Thunderbolts team. I've liked several versions of the Thunderbolts, but the classic run is the best. Honorable Mentions: Brotherhood of Evil mutants, Illuminati (A team that only ormed recently and was cancelled after 7 issues, but still enjoyable)

any teams you want to see portrayed more in TV, or movies?

DC: We need to see the Justice Society. Smallville did it well, and I'm hoping a certain other show (which I won't spoil) will follow through with a tease and show us more JSA. Honorable Mentions: JLA, Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans

Marvel: We need to see the Thunderbolts. Maybe if Suicide Squad does well for DC, Marvel might do the Thunderbolts in some form. Honorable Mentions: Fantastic Four (a good version), New Mutants

Ah, yes, definitely the Defenders!! Or as the Hulk affectionately called them, "Magician, Fish Man, Sword Girl, Bird Nose, and Cat Girl." One of my favorite storylines was with the Headsmen and the search for Nighthawk's brain.

Which ended up in the body of Bambi the Deer at one point, as I recall!

God, that was weird, great stuff. And they really need to get Ruby Thursday into the Marvel movies or AGENTS OF SHIELD at some point. Think of the fun they could have with the SFX.

True story: If you go wading through the letter columns of back issues of THE DEFENDERS, you'll find a fair number of letters from a young fan named "Greg Cox." I think THE DEFENDERS published more of my letters (sent by snail mail, kiddies) than any other Marvel comic book . . ..
