I think N
I'm thinking it's more likely to be in the large void between TUC and TNG as people are speculating. The slightly annoying thing there is we have a pre-set movie era design ethos for ships and sets etc which is all likely to be thrown out and totally redone. That doesn't really bother me a huge amount, but it'd be nice if they kept things in line at least a little. I think a series dealing with the tentative new alliance with the klingons would be really good, leaving room for the action they seem to think is all we want to see, and some nice political/diplomatic storylines to make you think.

I wouldn't mind a 24-esque vibe to Star Trek. Especially since they'll be members of Both Klingon and Federation who think jumping into the same bed with each other might be a bad idea.

Well, it isn't Michael Weatherly. Left NCIS, moving onto another CBS show.

What happened to the Tony Todd rumour I wonder?

Steven Erikson (Malazon Book of the Fallen) wrote an open letter to Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman on "The Future of Star Trek".

Definitely worth a read.

I don't understand the claim that "the last two starships named the Enterprise have crashed into ruin on planets," since the last time that happened to a Starship Enterprise was in 1994 with ST:GEN.

But I definitely agree with the commentary on TNG.

I wonder if the advertising will pay homage to this in some way? Same image as the original cover for Blish's first set of novelizations for Bantam. And note the 'United Space Ship Enterprise'. :D

Star Trek: Voyager novelist Kirsten Beyer (Full Circle onwards) is going to be a writer on the new series! Having absorbed The Eternal Tide in a single day, this has made me very happy. Click!

Kirsten is fantastic and I'm sure will be a brilliant addition to the room. This is one of the best things that could have happened imo

Depressing that they just keep digging up past Trek writers.
I don't mind a few, I wouldn't mind more novelists. I think Fuller will make the show show different from Berman, who had his hand in everything.

I agree with BillJ for once. I wish they would bring in some people that weren't associated with Trek at all.

They have. The writing staff seems to include:

Bryan Fuller (Star Trek: Voyager, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Hannibal)
Gretchen Berg (Roswell, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Revenge)
Aaron Harberts (Roswell, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Revenge)
Nicholas Meyer (The Seven Per-Cent Solution, Time After Time, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)
Joe Menosky (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, Salem)
Jesse Alexander (Alias, Heroes, Hannibal)
Aron Coleite (Heroes, The River, Hostages)
Kemp Powers (an LA-based playwright)
Kirsten Beyer (a Star Trek novelist)

I'd call that a pretty well balanced mix of Trek and non-Trek credentials. The staff also includes people who have written for film, television, the stage and novels. I like the approach a lot... Hopefully it comes together!
