Should of just gone even deeper and made this a 2 part movie. WB really dropped the ball big time.

Strange how the WB spends loads of money to market a film... that's not the real version???

Normally "extended cuts" were added as a treat for movie goers who loved the final edit (THE THEATRICAL RELEASE), not to explain what was wrong with it. This is unbelievable.

I'm actually really excited for the Ultimate Cut. I did enjoy the theatrical cut, but the more I've thought about it the more problems I have had with it, however from the little glimpses we see in this new trailer, it looks like some of those issues will be resolved.

What I'm most excited about is it looks like Superman/Clark gets more to do.

True, it's not the typical approach, but it's not the first time this has happened. The Ridley Scott film Kingdom of Heaven (also, I believe, a Warner Bros. film) in its theatrical cut received middling reviews from critics and audience members. Scott wanted to release his 45-min longer cut but the studio feared it would put off the audience. The longer cut is, without a doubt, a much better film (reviews and audience reactions generally prefer it, even among those who don't like either cut--I think the theatrical release is mediocre and the longer cut is very good--no one should bother with the theatrical cut IMO).

Movies get gutted for run time all the time because some suit is more concerned about the number of times they can play the movie in a day than the actual quality of the movie. Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven is the recent example people use the most in how drastic the cuts were. Sometimes movies will have longer overseas run times and shorter US run times like Once Upon a Time in America.

I'm really annoyed that scenes which would have made the movie more whole were left out while all those long dream sequences were left in.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. There was no reason for the dreams, the Flash, the Wonder Woman backstory, nor the Justice League cameos, especially now that it seems that there was so much other footage that could have made the story more coherent. I wonder how much of the extra footage was included because of studio mandate rather than Snyder's own decision?

I can't wait to see the Extended Edition. Just like the LOTR movies I think they're going to be a much stronger product.

I still can't believe they didn't just release this as two movies if they had four hours of footage. You would have doubled your earnings. (Obviously this would have required a different version of the story with two climaxes. End Part One with Batman vs Superman, Part Two with Doomsday.)

Actually, I think Doomsday should have just been omitted altogether. I more "minor" villain could have been Lex's henchman--Wonder Woman could have been removed--and the climax could have just been Superman fighting the henchman while Batman rescues Martha.

I concur. Someone like Metallo would've been perfect for this film. The man in the wheelchair would've been a perfect volunteer for the Metallo project. BvS featured Wayne Tech, Lexcorp and Star Labs. Them working together to pump out a super powered android powered by Kryptonite would've been a perfect set up.

Justice League title.

The studio probably spent a lot more money on those sequences than the boring "people talking" ones. Doubtless they felt they needed to get their value for money. But Snyder and the production designers would also have wanted to get their work on those sequences seen. They needed someone more ruthless, less precious, in the editing room.

There are going to be a whole bunch of fan edit versions out there by the end of the year!

Especially with the "Ultimate" version coming out, there will be plenty of material to cut the movie down to a fan made two hour "theatrical" edit.
