Going by the preview, it still makes no damn sense. After 18 months of him being Superman, presumably around the world, this is the first time someone has called him out for who he didn't save?
ThirdedI can't even begin to imagine sitting through an even longer version of this movie.
Normally "extended cuts" were added as a treat for movie goers who loved the final edit
True, it's not the typical approach, but it's not the first time this has happened. The Ridley Scott film Kingdom of Heaven (also, I believe, a Warner Bros. film) in its theatrical cut received middling reviews from critics and audience members. Scott wanted to release his 45-min longer cut but the studio feared it would put off the audience. The longer cut is, without a doubt, a much better film (reviews and audience reactions generally prefer it, even among those who don't like either cut--I think the theatrical release is mediocre and the longer cut is very good--no one should bother with the theatrical cut IMO).Strange how the WB spends loads of money to market a film... that's not the real version???
Normally "extended cuts" were added as a treat for movie goers who loved the final edit (THE THEATRICAL RELEASE), not to explain what was wrong with it. This is unbelievable.

I'm really annoyed that scenes which would have made the movie more whole were left out while all those long dream sequences were left in.I'm actually really excited for the Ultimate Cut. I did enjoy the theatrical cut, but the more I've thought about it the more problems I have had with it, however from the little glimpses we see in this new trailer, it looks like some of those issues will be resolved.
What I'm most excited about is it looks like Superman/Clark gets more to do.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. There was no reason for the dreams, the Flash, the Wonder Woman backstory, nor the Justice League cameos, especially now that it seems that there was so much other footage that could have made the story more coherent. I wonder how much of the extra footage was included because of studio mandate rather than Snyder's own decision?I'm really annoyed that scenes which would have made the movie more whole were left out while all those long dream sequences were left in.
I concur. Someone like Metallo would've been perfect for this film. The man in the wheelchair would've been a perfect volunteer for the Metallo project. BvS featured Wayne Tech, Lexcorp and Star Labs. Them working together to pump out a super powered android powered by Kryptonite would've been a perfect set up.Actually, I think Doomsday should have just been omitted altogether. I more "minor" villain could have been Lex's henchman--Wonder Woman could have been removed--and the climax could have just been Superman fighting the henchman while Batman rescues Martha.
The studio probably spent a lot more money on those sequences than the boring "people talking" ones. Doubtless they felt they needed to get their value for money. But Snyder and the production designers would also have wanted to get their work on those sequences seen. They needed someone more ruthless, less precious, in the editing room. There was no reason for the dreams, the Flash, the Wonder Woman backstory, nor the Justice League cameos, especially now that it seems that there was so much other footage that could have made the story more coherent. Part 2 will be called "Apokolips Now"

There are going to be a whole bunch of fan edit versions out there by the end of the year!
