Didn't care for The Wrath of the Prophets

I haven't completely read it, but I'm pretty close to getting it read. I'm either in the 240's or the 250's, and I can tell that there aren't any Odo tricks. If nothing else, they could've had him go liquid. This is why it would be better if Peter David put one out by himself again. The Siege was a lot better than this one was. Why could they not have made Odo more knowledgeable about the Orions? He could've accompanied the captain and saved him a few cracked ribs.

It's kind of what someone said when I asked if there were any androids who were main characters on the original Star Trek series. The guy told me that they didn't and that they had Spock. I hated DS9 when Odo quit shapeshifting on the television show because Spock's my favorite on the original series; and to me, that shapeshifting ability is comparable to a Vulcan's ability to do the nerve pinch that people can do if they are able to do it on the right person except that it's impossible to cause someone to collapse after touching the shoulder and to remove the hand and have the victim still be on the ground. Spock never got to the point where he quit doing the nerve pinch. Now the difference between the nerve pinch being shown on a Star Trek episode and showing Odo shapeshifting is that the nerve pinch is cheaper and doesn't require special effects, and I was excited about the idea of a shapeshifter being on DS9 because it had been too long since they used the stop and start method of shapeshifting on the Next Generation episode "The Dauphin." But they just had to go with the more expensive method that requires mostly computers when I don't remember asking them to show the shapeshifting effect that costs more money than stop and start; and when a Deep Space Nine book comes out about , they have no reason because it doesn't cost them anything to do it.

I can understand being disappointed, but it's kind of a minor reason to not like the whole book. So no matter how well written the book is, how good the story is or how well the characters are handeled, if Odo doesn't shapeshift then that it's for you? It's not like Odo and his abilities as a shapeshifter were the whole focus of the series.

I wasn't just talking about the episodes where he lost his abilities. Even when he was able to shapeshift, we still didn't see him do it in every episode.

Nice that people like to act as if I didn't see the episode where he and Quark were together and Quark was dragging him to where they needed to go. Not.

I didn't think the episode was too great either because all it did was make it difficult for the characters to do what needed to be done. I don't like to see characters having to work too hard to overcome obstacles. I didn't like the Enterprise episode where there were too many Xindi ships and not enough Starfleet ships to force the one from being blast to space dust and where crewmembers have no chance to force the Xindi to back off. But after he got his abilities back from that one shapeshifter, there were just too many episodes where he didn't do anything; and if nothing else, I would've settled for the effect where Spock presumably let himself get hit in the head because it's fun to watch; and when there would be episode after episode where Odo wouldn't do the equivalent of Spock's nerve pinch, it wasn't interesting. The television episodes got to the point where Odo was rarely if ever seen doing it, which is probably why I haven't seen the last one. Now with Enterprise, I didn't like that the captain used the five finger discount to get the warp coil he needed. He probably should've offered to borrow the warp coil in exchange for what the aliens needed to survive and made sure they got another warp coil. If the aliens would've still said no, then he could've done the five finger discount and made good on what he said.

Some of the best drama comes from the characters having to overcome incredibly difficult challenges. Things would get pretty boring, pretty quickly if everything always worked out perfectly.
Granted sometimes shows take it a little too far with things always going wrong, but the Trek shows usually hit a nice balance.
I've always like The Ascent.

If it's an Enterprise episode, I've seen most of the first season episodes and have seen every one of the other four; and the library couldn't get all of season one. Even if they could get them, it wouldn't do me any good to try to rewatch it because I lost the remote to the DVD player; and I'm not going to ask some Ouija board where it is. Besides, a lot of the episodes were drawn out or complicated and hard to follow unlike modern Godzilla movies that aren't over doing it with giant robots. As much as I like to annoy people myself sometimes and lower life forms that can't do much about it except snakes that are one of the most well-behaved and beautiful creatures, I don't have enough power to defend myself from a supernatural one by bugging a Ouija board.
Whether it's a DS9 movie or an Enterprise episode, please refresh my memory.

I can think of DS9 episodes that were interesting where Odo did practically nothing when he did have his powers like the one where they somehow made it seem real to O'Brien that he had served some prison sentence and killed someone. It almost seemed convincing; but since he didn't kill anyone and it was just an illusion, I would've preferred a way for him to get counseling or something. The episode where Quark was being offered a million bars of gold-pressed latinum for weapons was interesting. I liked the way Sisko lost his temper when Quark acted cocky about Odo having to let him go. I don't like them enough to watch the episodes again, but they're not bad. The episode where Jake had to pass away as an old man because Sisko was caught in some time thing was interesting as well as the episode where they played baseball with the Vulcans.

Let me get this straight once and for all, please. I don't believe demons are trapped or inside some board. However, as someone said they're a way to communicate to the underside; and that's where they dwell, so I view them as some kind of portal to talk to them.
