GRAN TORINO

Built between 1968 and 1976, the Ford Gran Torino was a subset and eventual replacement model for the Ford Fairlane in the American intermediate auto market. It was named after the city of Turin (Torino) in Italy.




GRAN TORINO

The 2008 drama starring Clint Eastwood (who also produced and directed) as a grizzled, prejudiced veteran who befriends a young Asian boy and his family. The relationship begins when Eastwood's character prevents the boy from stealing his classic 1972 Gran Torino.

My first car was a '73, 351 Cleveland. Metallic blue with black interior. Big, heavy, powerful. Gas was about 50 cents a gallon.

The good old days.

I had a Corgi model of the Starsky & Hutch Gran Torino and a Corgi Model of the brown Buick Century from Kojak as a kid and would frequently re-enact the chase scene from the pilot and opening credits of the show with them . I bought another one just a few years ago strictly for display purposes you understand .

Yeah the '70s were great for unmarked cop cars. The brown Ford Consul from The Sweeney is a classic, too, some beating that thing took. One I really didn't care for was the huge blocky Mercury Marquis that replaced Five-O's original Park Lane 4-door hardtop.

Yeah the '70s were great for unmarked cop cars. The brown Ford Consul from The Sweeney is a classic, too, some beating that thing took. One I really didn't care for was the huge blocky Mercury Marquis that replaced Five-O's original Park Lane 4-door hardtop.

For me, the cars were a big part of the appeal of many of those shows. There was also the White Jaguar XJS from Return of the Saint and the silver birch Ford Capri from The Professionals.
