Germany exclusive Star Trek trilogy "Prometheus" coming in 2016

I did some research and his full german name is Haudrauf der Stoische which would translate to Haudrauf the Stoic... That's like saying someone is an atheist who believes in god...
I think it's a joke. Take a brawler, make him a Stoic and that's so weird it is funny.

Anyway, soon the woefully underused Prometheus class finally has its day in the limelight! ❤️

I was always disappointed that the Excalibur-A in New Frontier was a Galaxy-class because John Ordover had said about two years before that he was looking for a way to replace the old Ambassador-class with a Prometheus. :)

I guess the Prometheus-class was too aggressive for "New Frontier". And since the Enterprise-D wasn't around anymore, they also wanted to bring back an iconic design, so they could use it on book covers (like the Robinson, too).

Speaking of book covers. Martin Frei, the cover illustrator of our German "Star Trek" books, took the chance to create his version of the Prometheus, together with three bridge officers (from left to right: chief of security Lenissa zh'Thiin - I know, we have to replace her red shirt with a yellow -, Captain Richard Adams and helmsman Jassat ak Namur, one of the mysterious Renao). Of course, the look of these three is Martin's interpretation of the characters. Christian and I imagined them a little bit different, but nevertheless I really like this picture. I always like it when an artist draws a picture of characters I invented for a book. :)

Why not go for a German character as the captain? I mean, we've already had plenty of American captains in the franchise.

Good question. Especially one without typical German clichés.

How about a starship build by the German "army", the Bundeswehr. I imagine it like this: "Sir, we have a problem. The lights on the flight control console are too bright, the pilot can't see the console. Also our Warp nacelles are rusting... IN SPACE! And all our phasers can't shoot accurately if they are exposed to a temperature over 30° Celsius."

I am not making this up. All this stuff actually happened (they seriously had a helicopter or plane or something designed for flying over sea that had serious rusting issues.)!

We had like 2 German characters in all of Trek Lit, if I'm not mistaken: That MACO who commited suicide in Destiny and Commander Müller from New Frontier.

Is there any chance of the Prometheus and it's crew taking part in crossovers with the characters from the English language books?

I looked at the crewlist - but what is Chell's position?

Captain - Richard Adams
XO/Tactical - Roaas
2O/Ops - Sarita Carson
CONN - Jassat Ak Namur
Communications - Paul Winter
Security Chief - Lenissa zh'Thiin
Chief Engineer - Jenna Kirk
Science Officer - Mendon
CMO - Geron Barai

Technische Station just seems to translate as Technical Station - and we've already got an Ops Manager and a Chief Engineer. Are we seeing the introduction of Chief of Operations on a ship now?

I think this technical station is the one that B'Elanna uses sometimes... Rarely... Like one or two times...

Of course we thought about it. However - and that might sound a little strange from your perspective - we didn't want it feel forced. Like "German authors - German captain". Hello, Gary Sue! And since the Prometheus is a canon ship we tried to find a crew that could have been invented for the TV series. Also we had James Edward Olmos in mind for this character - and he is an American actor.

That doesn't mean we don't have German characters on board. To be honest, I think there are more Germans on the Prometheus than on all Federation ships together ever mentioned in the last 50 years. ;)

Regarding the crossovers: Of course it is possible! If there is any US colleague willing to use the Prometheus in a future novel we are happy to be of assistance.

Chell is just a technician sitting on the bridge, manning the technical station (we used this bridge for reference), while Jenna Kirk is in one of the engineering rooms. He is one of the supporting actors you often see on the shows working in the background. I added him, because he is part of the bridge alpha shift. But he is not very important.

I was just about to ask if there is some kind of connection to James T. Kirk.

Sooo... Like three ^^
