The Blacklist - Season 3 Discussion Thread

OK,
about Tom being Scotty's long lost son
was too stupid for words. To do that plot twist once, or hint at it once, is one thing but to do it AGAIN with characters that are so close is just moronic.

The whole episode was just to set-up the spin-off. While the heist was kind of interesting, the pay-off for it really wasn't.

No, it didn't. I was watching that with hubby and we both agreed that Scotty is no Red when it comes to the "little story" routine. She's good at being icy but needs to improve her "crazy eye" to compete with Red. With Red, you buy that he could indeed, at any second, go completely psycho, but Scotty just doesn't have that vibe. She comes across as being far too controlled, so while she may be a fierce foe, she doesn't inspire the "oh-holy crap-what's-going-to go-down" reaction that Red does.

Yeah, I love that with Red you're never sure if he likes someone or is about to kill them, until he does.

I really liked Famke as Scotty, yeah she's no Red but I enjoyed her character. I really liked this last episode, I think Famke will make the spinoff work, will it last...who knows.

I found the backdoor pilot pretty tedious to sit through. I don't really see myself sticking with it as a series.
Plus, Jean Grey wanted to make out with her son? Eww.

I did like Grey Matters hacker guy but that was about it. This should last one season with Tom killing everyone at the end and walking away with His daughter.

Speaking of Tom,
I was VERY disappointed to find out Mathias is in the spin-off, so that gut-shot didn't kill him. Grr. That was a great moment.

It's okay it didn't kill him, it did put him in some pain that he had to live through. And the beauty is, Tom can do it again. :)

Just reminder guys, tonight is the finale. Will Lizzie be back or not?

Of course she'll be back. You don't take a show into next season with that up in the air since it's been several episodes and isn't the season finale cliffhanger.

Then on the TV Line website, you'll get... Blacklist SPOILER: Lizzie's alive! Don't read ahead if you don't want to be spoiled.

OK, I have to admit that I completely spoiled myself this morning before work by going online to read the first synopsis I could find. This should be quite interesting to watch, and it does raise a number of questions.

The only thing that really interested me about that episode is "Mr. Kaplan." What a fantastic character she is. I hope she sticks around so we can get to know more about her motivations, her background.Of course, it's not looking too good for her at the moment.

Otherwise, the big reveal? Ressler's big dramatic moment? MEH. Totally predictable, typical network drivel.

What did make me laugh, though, was Red's description of Aram.

Well, nothing about that episode was remotely surprising. The only big question for me is what happens NEXT since we know
Tom is on the spinoff and Lizzy is obviously still on the main show. What splits them? Who keeps the baby? Does the baby die? Is she given away?

I just binge-watched the last 7 episodes.

  • This show went off the rails halfway through season 1 but this year has been somewhat riveting with Liz as a fugitive on the run followed by her death.
  • I wasn't following spoilers so I genuinely didn't know if Megan Boone was leaving the show for good or not. I couldn't imagine the show without her and they could have faked her death, but anything was possible and that fake-out was pretty convincing.
  • The episode without Red was actually pretty good. It was weird seeing Tom and the gang team up with the people who tried to get Liz, but Eggold as Tom is always interesting and he really held his own. I wasn't bored.
  • Partway through the final episode, I could see how Liz would be back so the reveal wasn't a surprise.
  • I just learned of the spinoff about a minute before starting this post. A shame that they might separate Tom and Liz.
  • Famke Janssen is Tom's mother? Did she have him when she was 5 or something? Okay, a quick search reveals that Janssen is a full 20 years older than Eggold. Unbelievable.
  • Guess I'm stuck with twice the Blacklist next season.
