Marvel's Most Wanted (Agents of SHIELD spin-off)

Coulson: "Good news, everybody - Bobbi and Hunter have been un-disavowed! Good thing we still have a few spare lockers... Here, I had Fitz buy them a welcome-back cake..."

I suspect they'd be guest appearances at most anyway. Cast is too big if the Secret Warriors have a meaningful role.

I was afraid that this would happen. Two of my favorite characters written out for no good reason (except maybe the size of the ever-growing cast).:( On the plus side, we know that it won't be Bobbi or Hunter who dies in the finale.:techman:

I wonder if we'll ever get to see the pilot?

To be honest I was never all that enthusiastic about Most Wanted anyway. It's just a shame AoS had to lose Bobbi because of it. Hopefully she'll still show up on occasion in guest spots.

A few high profile pilots like this have been posted online later. Even if it isn't released officially, I would expect it to probably end up being leaked.

Did you guys actually read the article? There was a very similar pilot-rundown a week ago (maybe from Deadline), that said about the same thing. It's still fairly high on the list, but not a lock.

Now that said, when you look at the recent ratings for AOS, you really have to wonder what kind of potential ratings a spinoff would be looking at. Even if the pilot was great and everyone liked it, the network bosses may simply decide that there likely isn't a big enough market for it.

Though perhaps thats how you'd try to keep ratings fresh instead of just plowing ahead with season after season of AOS. Spin off MMW this year. And then spin off Secret Warriors next year. And then put the remaining agents into a new show. If you had 2 (or 3) shows, perhaps one of them would catch on and generate ratings superior to AOS. And lets be honest, that's the modern comic book way, isn't it? Just relaunch with a new #1 every now and then. Call the show something else to try to get new viewers to come in fresh.

Don't you love rumors passed off as actual news.

Although I want more Agent Carter, I don't really care about Most Wanted, unless it's going to feature a lot more weekly appearances by Marvel characters that couldn't/shouldn't get their own series or movie appearance. For example, episode 3 of AoS sets up Graviton and we're at the end of season 3, WTH is he?

I would give MMW a chance. My continuation would depend on how engaging the episodes are and how deeply it dives into the as yet untapped mysteries of the MCU.

What would their adventures look like, would they travel to other realms and meet mystical entities I have never dreamed of, :) or will they simply be vigilante AOS doing what SHIELD does only on a smaller scale... :(

What could they possibly do to set themselves apart from other comic based programs?

From the description, it sounded like it would be less of the fantasy/alien stuff and more of a grounded spy/mercenary type of action drama. As with AoS in its first season or two, ABC probably wants something that's less "genre" and more "mainstream" in its appeal.

Well, that's just my assumption based on the reported premise. I don't see any reason why a show about a baseline-human ex-agent, her mercenary husband, and a soldier of fortune named Fortune would have anything to do with other realms and mystical entities. But there's a lot of stuff in the Marvel Universe that isn't about superpowers and aliens and gods. I doubt the Punisher is going to be visiting the Frost Giants or trying to take out a hit on the Kree Supreme Intelligence, but people still seem pretty enthused about his show.

It does feel like an attempt to return to a more grounded espionage action-adventure while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues to travel deeper down the Inhuman well.

Deadline Hollywood did another pilot report yesterday, and this is what the execs had to say after viewing the pilot (earlier comments were all pre-pilot buzz):

Reaction to Marvel’s Most Wanted has been solid to mixed, and there had been a talk for potential tweaking, so the project is in consideration but not a shoo-in.

It's not as gushing as it was before, but still somewhat positive.

It could just be something as simple as not liking one of the supporting actors/characters. There are three supporting players that we know of, Dominic Fortune, his niece, and an un-named, but supposedly well-known Marvel character. Hopefully, all it will take are a few re-shoots to make the network happy.
