The best episodes of STNG

RAMA

Admiral

I've done top 5s, top 10s. For the first time I've actually finished a top 25 list, and it was tough. Some notable missing episodes...Chain of Command, Cause and Effect, The Enemy, Tapestry!, Data's Day, Redemption, et al., but I just couldn't fit all the best ones!

1. Best of Both Worlds I and II
2. Yesterday's Enterprise
3. Darmok
4. The Chase
5. The Inner Light
6. The Measure of a Man (Extended)

The Defector
The Battle
Conspiracy
Yesterday's Enterprise (to bad this wasn't a two-parter)
Final Mission
Masks
The Mind's Eye
Disaster
The Game
The Next Phase

I would've given more tension to the conclusion of The Chase.

Less semi-comedic bickering, more anxiety that they where going to blow each out of the sky. Alot of the sixth and seven season episodes where like that, weak on creating that urgency at the climax of the episode. But The Chase episode was a fine concept, very Trek.

Just off the top of my head:

Measure of a Man
The Wounded
Sins of the Father
Q Who
The Best of Both Worlds (part 1)
Yesterday's Enterprise
Tapestry
All Good Things

Honorable mention: "Q-Pid" gets a nod for just one line: "I am not a Merry Man!"

A Matter of Honour
Sins of the Father
Redemption Parts 1 and 2
Darmok
The Game

I do like Klingon episodes and the Worf story arcs.

What I'm noticing and liking a lot, actually, is that there are so many different episodes being mentioned. It's so much easier for me, as an example, to name the episodes that are the weakest, because there are so few of them. I can't name the best, it's like saying which is the best breath over the course of the day? I need them all ... ALL of them! And the movies, too ...

My top 10 changes every so often whenever a thread like this comes up, so today:

All Good Things...
Best of Both Worlds I
The Defector
Yesterday's Enterprise
Measure of a Man
Conspiracy
Chain of Command II
Cause and Effect
Ensign Ro
The Wounded

Q Who
A Matter of Honor
Who Watches the Watchers
The Enemy
The Hunted
Sins of The Father
Tin Man
The Best of Both Worlds
Data's Day
The Wounded
The Nth Degree
Darmok
Chain of Command
Gambit
