But, what will this whole AxaNutbar situation do to affect other genuine attempts at Fan Film features? As I posted in another Thread, will CBS and The 'Mount be forced to take an "All or Nothing" approach, on the "Nothing" side, and go after EVERY attempt at FanHomage, on the basis of the Old (New) adage, "Better Safe Than Infringed?"

In the words of some of the kids I teach in Kindergarten and First Grade;

"Poo Poo Kaa Kaa Stinky BM!!!"

Tommy also shared that CBS is apparently planning on contacting other fan productions in an effort to get them to suspend production as well.
Anyone else find it odd that Tom didn't say that publicly in his Facebook post or anywhere else that I can find, but would tell Alec Peters????
By providing a “head’s up” ... CBS can avert the legal mess they’ve created with Axanar Productions.
:guffaw:

^^ Agreed.

As to everything else...

I swear to motherfucking Jesus, nobody could write this shit. Just when it can't get any more pathetic, any more insane, any more out of left-field, Peters just HAS to go that extra mile.

I'm so ready for CBS to mop the floor with his bug-eyed dumbass so this can all be over and done with.

I'm legit sad for Tommy Kraft. Horizon was far from perfect but for a fan film I thought more of it was good than bad and I'm sorry he and his production have been caught up in this Axanar nonsense. I get why CBS and their lawyers are doing it, but the only person I blame for this shit is Alec Peters, the whiny pissant.

He's literally poisoning the well for everyone. How anyone can support him right now is beyond any definition of reason, and his about-face-back-stabbing two-facedness toward people like Sean Tourengeau and others just keeps proving this point. and I'm quite looking forward to the righteous, glorious epic smackdown Loeb & Loeb are about to deliver him.

I'm only considering this thought right now, but it's possible this is where the shake up begins regarding boundaries using the fast expanding easily obtainable very usable in even a basement fabulous technologies and high dollar funding available in New Media being increasingly used in our fan films. I mean, amazing technology & outside funding using someone else's property could accelerate at an almost exponential rate right now if left unchecked. Though a shake up doesn't say to me right off the bat 'the end' of it all, but more that we could be getting ready to learn the lines we can not cross anymore in the making our fan films. It seems possible to me that we are entering a transition stage, possibly a big shake up, before this begins to settle into a new paradigm of what is going to be considered a 'fan' film.

I did not know about Doe strategy in law suits. Now that you say it's an "ohhh, yeah. I get that" kind of moment.

Sort of like a criminal investigation where everyone knows about the crime but nobody's talking? Start threatening prosecution for collusion or obstruction and they often start talking? And/or flipping their testimony for immunity?

I don't know if it would be necessarily testimony for immunity, but as it's been described in the past, they would have a settlement that would be much better than what it could've been without a settlement.

If Rob Burnett thinks he's impervious to any of this shit from Peters, he might want to consider how much of a backbone Peters really has. Something tells me if things get strained enough, Peters would have feel no compunction about throwing Burnett under the bus as he has done with Tony Todd, James Cawley, Sean Tourangeau, and all the others if he thought it would give him even the slightest edge of a victory in the meaningless court of public opinion.

Because that's all Peters cares about. He doesn't respect the law. He doesn't respect intellectual copyright or other people's property. He doesn't even care about the fans. All he cares about is the attention, the adulation, and the spotlight, whether it's good or bad. He has no problem shitting on his enemies vehemently and viciously, and he has shown know difficulty accepting praise even when said praise has absolutely nothing -- ZERO -- to do with his defrauding dumbass.

You're more than welcome. I didn't realise validity of opinions was connected to the length on membership on the board.

Making a personal statement against someone actually is a bit connected to the length of time you're here.

It's one thing for what's his name to have an issue — he's established on here, and that's fine. But you, you're not ... you're new. But walked into this place like you've been here forever, passing judgement on people who have been here for many, many years.

I have a suggestion for you: stay away from getting personal with the posters, and just stick to the topic at hand. Sound good?

I'm amazed that hasn't happened yet. Especially since a few of us have heard that things weren't too kosher between those two recently.

Well, the guy or gal who I was actually responding too has been here a long time and you're not trying to lay a slapdown to him or her which backs up your point, this is just for the new guy clearly. But I can't promise not to opine the stuff on the screen, I though that was partly the point, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Your father is lying. The concept that the ongoing inter-European conflicts of the first half of the twentieth century constituted in essence an ongoing civil war is both a published academic idea, and nothing to do with the EU - it is to do with the inbred nature of European monarchy and government, and the often homogeneous culture between warring nations. It is a fringe view and neither pro- or anti- EU in nature.
So he actually isn't lying since you confirmed it's a fringe theory doing the rounds and therefore could have popped up on TV by now?
I assumed he was exaggerating for comic effect, but now you reveal people out there actually refer to it in this slightly mental way. (didn't they refer to the napoleon's wars similarly?)

Also, you may wish to work on your social interactions. Saying someone's father is a liar is not polite.

It would also logically support the EU project as it implies a history of a joined up Europe back when none existed as such. So, it many ways, like the idea of the 'trans marchant zone' it has everything to do with the EU.
