I'm going to laugh when they never address who Rey's parents are or any of her backstory & drive everyone nuts.

JJ Abrams is involved, so I wouldn't put it past them. I'm kidding, it's to big of a part of the story for them to actually do that.

OK I felt quite disappointed after watching this....... So much I could pick on in this film.

How the hell Rey know how to do a mind trick when she had zero training? And Ren and his teenage temper trantrums...... What he wasn't a teenager, certainly felt like it. Felt like a remake of the very first SW movie.

Rey's seeming prodigious natural talent with the force has been a pretty common complaint. The best hope for we faithful-but-dubious faction have is that she will turn out to have some forgotten training in her early years before being left on Jakku or will turn out to be some kind of Force "Avatar" who was awakened out of necessity to balance the universe once more.

After watching the film a few more times on Blu-ray, if anything, I've found that the film has gotten worse with repeated viewings, overall. For one thing, it's too much of a retread of the 1977 film. Despite some isolated good moments, it doesn't hang together very well.

On the plus side, Han's final scene is very well done, and Kylo Ren has overall grown on me in almost every aspect.

But, instead of wanting to throw popcorn at the screen at "I can do this" (times two), now I want to simply eject to the disk. I hated it that much when I first heard the like in Jurassic Park, and it hasn't gotten any better with age. And if I'd wanted to watch a movie with so many callbacks to the OT, I would have simply watched a fan film.

I could extract still images of, say, Luke, the Falcon, and other OT elements, and have as a good a time looking at those instead of watching the movie. Just having props in that way doesn't make a great film.

Kudos for making a fully functional prop in BB 8......... I want one of those now dammit....... I thought it was some bloody trick with the head staying on but to find they actually built this and it works.

Disappointment when you find out how much the actual working toy of this costs, and how small it is.

My assumption is that Rey was a Jedi Academy Youngling who was there for the massacre and got her mind wiped by somebody.

IMO Han did not intentionally sacrifice himself or choose to cast seeds of doubt into Ren's Mind. He was trying to convince his son to turn away from the darkness and return to his family. Ren seemed to go along with that, then murdered Han unexpectedly. Everything which followed was due to Ren's choice of action, not Hans.

By going out 'with a bang' I was meaning more along the lines of Han deciding the only way to stop the weapon from firing would be to kamikaze a ship into it, knowing while it would most certainly kill him it would prevent countless others from dying.

Good character driven moments beats walking wood any day.

walking wood hehe he hehehe

I'm sure it will be touched upon in the sequel. I think part of the whole point is supposed to be that it's unexpected and unusual. Not everything needs to be explained in detail right away.

The Sphero BB-8 costs only a little more than the original, non-BB-8 Sphero toy that was just a ball with no dome on top.

But the prices asked feel a bit excessive.. IMHO

If it were a tiny bit bigger I might buy.

I personally took it as Kylo unintentionally showed showed her when he was trying to probe inside her mind, and Rey picked up on different concepts and then tried to make them work.

As for Kylo's tantrums, honestly, that what I would expect from someone who doesn't get what they want and is told that they are the best and the future Darth Vader. He is a spoiled brat by Snoke, and guess what? He acts like it.

I really like the tantrums, it's very fitting for his characterization.

That was my interpretation too, that she simply mimicked what Kylo was doing to her.

Yeah, I thought the tantrums were a nice bit of characterization. To me it was a way of showing that he is a bit of unstable, and that he wasn't some wise reserved warrior. He was basically just a pissed off kid with serious daddy and granddaddy issues.
