CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Has anybody seen Tom around to ask him about Peters and Renegades?

They asked him to say a few words before the fan film awards. I bet he gave a nice long speech about how to get your ass sued by CBS and Paramount. If not, than fan film makers should probably just do the opposite of any advice he gave.

I think everybody should always do the opposite of Peters' advice.

So if Alec suggested it would be a good idea to leave a building that was on fire, you'd suggest that we'd stay in it?
Depends.

Do I have access to a fire hose that will allow me to put the fire out?

Is there an alien invasion going on outside and thus I'd be safer to stay inside?

You didn't give us enough data to decide what the best course of action really is.

Read in one go this timeline paints quite the picture...

From that link
November 17: Name Change to 'Axanar'
Producer Alec Peters announces the name of the feature film is being shortened to simplyAxanar. “In deference to CBS, we have removed the Star Trek branding from our website. and our Facebook page,” he wrote. “We are cognizant that we are using CBS’ intellectual property and we wish to minimize the use of that IP in our film and in our overall production.

They've changed their blog post on the Axanar productions site as they certainly said that CBS asked them to remove the Star Trek name from Axanar

Man, the fans be getting old. It's all up to you, Bryan Fuller!
Most of those guys seem to be pretty nice - and very sincere. It's a shame they have been taken in by Alec's "vision."

And the picture in question has been EX-TER-MI-NA-TED from the actual website...

Mike: "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE???"
AP: "What's wrong with the pictu... oh shit...."
Mike: "MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!"
AP: "Done! They could've NEVER noticed..."

EDIT (Thanks to HMS Ark Royal): None of the pictures have been eradicated. It's still STAR TREK AYANAR. The writing's on the wall...

As of 19:00 UK time, I can still see the image on the site

So someone in the CBS/Paramount v Axanar Facebook group posted a picture of Alec Peters accepting an award for "Star Trek: Renegades," saying he was the only representative of that production there.

That's interesting. Peters is still involved with Renegades?

Alec is not part of out latest production. He came to our set for the first 3 days back in October 2013 and was given a Consulting Producer title for that episode. With out asking, Alec took it upon himself to take the reward on behalf of STR, and will give it us when he can (I would think). Nothing really nefarious about the situation IMO, as he was on the crew for that particular episode the award was given for. But to be clear again, Alec is not on the current STR team. Alec has also been previous associated with STNV and some other productions, so nothing new there.
