CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I can't remember if I donated to Axanar to get the main feature film Blu-ray or not... if I had, I assume I would be getting e-mails from the Axanar team? Or my name would appear on the Donor Roster, even if I did so retroactively? I have a bad feeling that I always meant to donate, but ultimately forgot about it until recently....

It's your lucky day. They're still taking donations on their website.
Meh. I'll try to find time for both. :)

As far as it being boring or tedious goes, we are in a lull, and it's not high drama, but this is a story full of:
-- good intentions gone bad,
-- hubris,
-- large egos being challenged,
-- legal intrigue,
-- defiance,
-- mission creep,
-- friendships challenged,
-- questionable ethics,
-- odd decision-making,
-- poor decision-making,
-- financial questions,
-- general shenanigans,
-- humor,
-- poor communication,
-- misleading advertising,
-- potential fraud,
-- the potential future of fan films,
-- carpet,
-- sushi,
-- and probably ten other things.

Most episodes of "Star Trek" didn't contain that much good stuff.

So, what you're saying is this isn't Axanar--the story of an inferior force being led by a great captain to beat a superior force--but rather what happened after Axanar--when the great leader resurrects from grievous injury and tries to take over the universe, forcing his loyal crew to make a difficult choice.

Kind of an ancillary discussion to this ... but Nicholas Meyer wrote a letter to the editor a couple weeks back to the Los Angeles Times, suggesting that Alexander Courage lifted his original series fanfare theme from a 1951 movie.

hmm... It's isn't only the three notes in and of themselves but more so the beats on each of the three notes in both pieces of music. Whether intentional or un I hear enough there for me to find it curious.

Well, it's a bit more complicated than that:

Out of lurker mode here for a second. That was interesting.

What I thought was really cool about that (besides the information presented) was that it was all one shot. A 6 minute 45 second shot.

Back into lurker mode.

Reminds me of the minutes-long shots on West Wing. Being a musician, I can hear the similarities in some of the intervals, and certainly in the rhythm and cadence, but the keys and major/minor transitions are different. My gut is that his one is not of a "She's So Fine"/ "My Sweet Lord" potential. IMHO

There was a Russian movie made that was one continuous shot lasting nearly an hour and three quarters

Great find, Potemkin! The Piano Player managed some pretty cool TransKeyboard Beaming, and as Jack said, an almost 7 minute shot. Thanks for Posting and starting my morning, here, with a much-needed smile!

I don't know, maybe I am. But, I do realize the host is wearing a red shirt and he's on a planet. Those two things are a cocktail for death.
Ahh, mea culpa. I was thinking it was somehow a critique on the host's dynamism, and I thought he did a good job. Red shirt, yeah, I get it now. Doh!

Russian Ark (2002). 96 Minutes. Interesting also that they were up against limited daylight and battery power with only enough remaining for the fourth and successful take.

I thought it was longer... Regardless, that is an amazing achievement against the odds

Huh? What is this in reply to? What am I missing?

I'd commented about a much longer single shot film compared to the video posted above

Also, weren't the musicians on each floor the same ones over and over again? They must have been pretty spry on their feet!

I've gotten a few inquiries regarding Part 2 of TrekZONE's interview with Alec Peters, and my follow-up discussion about issues raised in that interview with TrekZONE's Matt Miller and Axanar spokesman Mike Bawden.

Don't worry, there's nothing nefarious going on behind the scenes. The holdup is simply that we had some audio problems linking Matt in Australia, with me in Los Angeles, and Mike in Iowa. That took a little while to resolve before we could move on to actually record the interview.

That delay ate into the time Matt had scheduled to complete editing, which meant he had to edit a little day by day in the middle of his vacation, which began the following morning. I know he's been working on it and hopes to release Part 2 sometime this week.

I'm looking forward to seeing it as much as you folks :)
