If it's set, say, 25 years after TUC, they could easily have guest appearances from quite a few TOS actors, no? I'm thinking Sulu, Chekov, Uhura, Saavik...It's doubly confusing since there's almost no way it's going to include characters (let alone actors) from either universe. So why would they take a step back instead of embracing the new?
When it comes to any developments in media, for years I've been automatically more and more in "cautiously optimistic" mode. That said, I think that in terms of creativity this model worked pretty wellin Fargo and American Crime. I'm not into horror so I've never seen American Horror Story, but from my limited vantage point that seems to be where this current trend began. Pardon the ramble below, but I'm just thinking through the potential benefits of this rumored "middle path" approach of serialization. Also, apparently, it's a seasonal anthology!
Hmmm... I'm actually not all that sure about the idea of a new cast, crew and ship every season.
Very interesting, nonetheless.
Or, just possibly, T'Pol ?If it's set, say, 25 years after TUC, they could easily have guest appearances from quite a few TOS actors, no? I'm thinking Sulu, Chekov, Uhura, Saavik...
Even Michael Dorn's character from TUC could come back! Or Valeris!

I just hope it isn't a "connect the dots" circle jerk between TOS and TNG.
Agreed. It would basically be another prequel, which wasn't so great last time.I just hope it isn't a "connect the dots" circle jerk between TOS and TNG.
Well, Vulcans aren't exactly known to emote a lot...Valeris?! Even with the botox?!
Not to mention Fargo, one of the best shows on TV today.@Greg Cox No, that was Jordan Hoffman. Faraci just wrote an article about it.
People give Faraci a lot of shit and he can be an asshole, but I believe he wouldn't run an article unless he has multiple sources saying the same things. So, yes, it's a rumor and it could very well be wrong, but I think there's a decent chance that at least some of it is true.
The anthology show thing is pretty popular right now, with American Crime Story, American Horror Story, True Detective, etc., being very successful.
Very much agreed. Leave that (unnecessary) job to the fan films which can't go five minutes without making a canon reference.I just hope it isn't a "connect the dots" circle jerk between TOS and TNG.
