You think that is bad...?

There was once a headline in one of the UK papers about women joining the silent service (submarines) in the Royal Navy that read "Women Go Down With Sailors"

No argument, but when you see it, you don't think about all the little grammatical clues. When "re-sign" is so close to "resign" and have opposite meanings, the headline should have read "Jackson signs new contract with Lakers."

Watching sports for thirty years and reading a fuck ton of stuff related to it, always has me looking for the clues.

Would you rather it read something like:
"Women Go Down On Submarines"
(Sorry couldn't resist)

Edited to add (Hey, this IS a thread about the C/P vs Axanar Lawsuit):
And it appears Mr. Peters just can't stop with the unlicensed Star Trek based product infringement (and look at the comments section RE just how much Mr. Peters is making the case of 'Damages' for C/P. I REALLY have to wonder if the Blog post I'm about to link WAS run by the attorney:

Women have been on RN subs before - mainly in parts of the channel and Holy Loch as part of a commissioning ceremony or event. None, however, were part of the Ship's Company

If that's an attempt to claim the Klingon language is not a copyrightable IP, then heh, nope.

Oh, and way to name names, dude.

PS Over halfway done with the response to the second MtD but I have not started on the response to the Request for Judicial Notice. My eyes are crossing; it'll have to be at least after a sleep.

PPS I may have quoted Ivan Drago in my post.

I see that AP posted the pic of the Klingons at the city council meeting.

How much you want to bet that if Klingons show up in the court room the judge has them removed?

I would think so too. Not for the clothing but rather the head/face gear having too much facial concealment for identification if one were there to do nefarious things. I wouldn't think it safe for the court(s) to permit facial masking.

Wasn't a female juror once removed for turning up in a Starfleet uniform?
The Commander. An alternate juror. Ostensibly not for the uniform but because she talked to a tabloid to explain her choice of dress, however, the judge had mandated no talking to the media. Which may have given him the edge he needed to remove someone he might have considered distracting to the legal matter he was charged with. It would be a good point I think. Though I do think I remember he may have also expressed his actual disapproval 'of' the fictional universe uniform. Rather looking at it as a costume probably instead of a sincere expression of someone going to such a-typical measures to, display?, her belief system. Which would be logical since most ST uniforms seen are indeed costumes.

I had to show up for jury duty yesterday here in Los Angeles and security was fairly tight. Guys in Klingon costumes probably wouldn't even make it into the courthouse, much less the courtroom.
