Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

I have no problem with putting it in spoiler code. I just wanted to give context so people knew whether to even click or not.

That being said, the last one is not a spoiler because it isn't true. People thought it was but they're misremembering. Skye went to St. Agnes Orphanage. Matt Murdock's orphanage is not named. Instead, they're remembering Foggy talking about getting a client's kid into St. Agnes School.
According to the MCU wiki, both Matt and Daisy went to St. Agnes Orphanage, and that is how I remember it as well. I'm at work right now, but I will check the "Stick" episode of season one when I get home to confirm.

People have been asked and asked to cite the timestamp from that episode and no one has (with at least one person claiming they rewatched it, with subtitles, and it wasn't there). That's why I'm extremely skeptical despite how often it's repeated. Obviously, a wiki can be edited by anyone.

ETA: Reddit thread on this subject

So it's sounding like Infinity War won't just simply be one big story split in two.

I'm really curious to find out what exactly they have planned for these movies, then. Are they two stories that happen concurrently? And if they are, does that mean movies that happen in-between them, like Captain Marvel, take place before or after them?

Telling two stories that happen at roughly the same time would be one way to juggle the potentially massive cast, at least.

I think it's more likely that the Infinity War is broken into two phases. There's a confrontation, it's not decisive, but both sides have to regroup for some time before the next stage of the conflict.

It is a little weird to have Part 1 and Part 2 of a movie, but they're not actually one continual story.

Looks like the Inhumans film will be delayed. I'm not surprised honestly. Marvel's recent push to make the Inhumans "happen" for a widespread audience hasn't really hit like they thought it would. The Inhumans are no X-Men!

In other more positive news, Captain Marvel's cast and crew will be announced this summer.

The big question is what are the X-Men, for the widespread audience? It may have been a ,matter of Hugh Jackman, Haile Berry at her peak, Sir Ian and Michael Fassbender. Just as the MCU hit gold with Robert Downey Jr in the role of a B list character

x-men has a lot of classic stories to tell. I will like fox to give the franchise a rest after apocalypse and make a new film in the next 4 years. regardless of who is cast in the role the actors will always do well because x-men is usually heavier in plot . it is not like the mcu disney movies were RDJ plays himself.

I've always assumed that the two parts of Infinity War will have a jump in time between them. Mostly because so far the MCU has progressed more or less in real time and they're planning on releasing 'Captain Marvel' and 'Black Panther' between the two parts of Infinity War.

If I had to guess I'd say the Avengers leave Earth at the end of part one, either to take the fight to Thanos or to find some Mcguffin to deal with him and Marvel and Panther show (in part) what happens on Earth in their absence. In theory part two would pick up with them either still out there doing whatever they're doing, or just returning.

Depending on how apocalyptic things get, Earth may even be under alien occupation in that gap, which would be interesting as it could give 'Captain Marvel' a home front insurgency type vibe.

I still believe Part 1 tells the events that trigger the start of the infinity war. The war lasts for at least a year and part 2 serves as a "One year later..." story.

I don't think it has anything to do with that. It's just that they added two additional movies first, which throws off their production schedule.

My post was referencing Marvel pushing the Inhumans over the X-Men in the comics. From the Terrigen Mists sterilizing all mutants on Earth, to it now being considered lethal to mutants, and even Mr. Sinister saying that Inhuman genes are superior to mutant genes in Extraordinary X-Men. Sinister feels there's no need to save the mutant population. Add in things like Avengers vs X-Men (2012), Cyclops being turned into an almost villain (they've walked some things back) and a murderer, killing off of Deadpool (prior to his film release), also killing off Wolverine and retconning Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch from ever being mutants (as well as no longer being Magneto's children).

It really just seems like the X-Men/Mutants in the Marvel Universe are personae non gratae. In the wake of all this, the Inhumans' star has been rising, with more Inhuman titles and event comics and Agents of SHIELD being turned into an Inhuman centered show. All while treating the Inhumans like they are the X-Men. Subbing out one and filling in another.

So they are playing hardball over movie rights. FOX will just have to make do with the library of stories as Marvel will limit the amount of fresh content. Any new writer will give us an Inhuman, so if the character pops he can be plugged into the MCU

Fine idea but that would be difficult for Agents of SHEILD and the Netflix series to maintain during the occupation and if they're aliens or space tech involved, it'll be a financial nightmare.

The directors are reportedly hinting that Infinity War will take place in space rather than on Earth. At least, they're talking about "blow[ing] the canvas up to the entire universe."
