It just occured to me... Maybe they should try showing a lightsaber duel with lots of quick cuts, like the hand-to-hand combat scenes in Nolan's Batman movies.
All I read somewhere is that somebody retrieved the lightsaber from the bowels of Cloud City's industrial area and thus saved it from being lost or destroyed. What happened to it after it was found is a complete mystery, and since there are about 32 years between ESB and TFA it, like the Falcon, could have ended up in many different hands before we saw it again in the new film.
Well, I do know that his 6" Black Series figure wearing First Order Stormtrooper armor is slightly smaller and has different proportions from the regular First Order Stormtrooper figures that have been released. He's a little shorter and there's a smaller gap between his belt and his chest armor than the other Stormtroopers have.
Well I would think Luke would have talked about Anakin a bit. Storytelling. If Luke or anyone else in the family can come up with recording of Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars or Rebellion era footage of Luke Skywalker before the Battle of Hoth, than there would be images of that lightsaber.
And if they are records of the Clone Wars, with Skywalker and Kenobi being the media focus, there will be a lot of images of that lightsaber around.
Even if all they have is Kanan's old holocron seen in Rebels, that has file training footage of Anakin Skywalker with that lightsaber giving instructions on how lightsaber combat.
I got the blu-ray today. I watched the movie today.
IT WAS AWESOME!
I would have loved to have seen the film in theaters, but our 42" HDTV and home theater system did a more than adequate job of making everything feel big. Oh man, oh man, oh man, there's really nowhere for me to begin, other than say I love Rey! She is a fantastic heroine, and I can't wait to see what becomes of her. Finn (I love how he got his name) is so sweet, and I think he's a fun character. He's a terrible liar, and you just can't help but adore him. Poe, I didn't get a lot of time to read, but what I got I liked. I can see why some people feel there could be romantic tension between Poe and Finn.
Oh, and all of the familiar faces! Han, Chewie, Luke, Leia, R2-D2, C-3PO, they're all there, and they're all wonderful. It was old home week watching this film, even when:
Han is killed by Kylo Ren. Now, this was the part that had been spoiled, but even though I knew it was coming, the way it happened surprised me, and I just felt that Kylo Ren is truly a part of the dark side
And needs his ass sorely kicked by Rey, Finn, Poe, and the others. I really liked the atmosphere, the universe felt right, it felt real. No absurdly smooth technologies, no clearly CG scenes that didn't mesh in the background, no. This was very much the Star Wars of the 1970s and 1980s tweaked and modernized for modern audiences.
Side note, I really liked Moz (Lupita's character). If I wouldn't have known who the actress was from interviews, I would have never recognized her here. Speaking of, when Rey was in the cellar/basement/storage area, I recognized Luke's saber right off when she opened the lid and even gasped when I saw it.
Actually, I recognized a great many things, even though I haven't watched the films in quite a while, and I've never been as deep a Star Wars fan as many of you, but I was rattling off names, alien races, brief histories in the SW universe, and just generally helping to answer questions my mom had as we watched.
All in all, I loved this movie. I loved it, and I cannot wait to see the next one. Is it out yet? Is it? *scratch*
Neither am I, although the very strong likelihood of seeing Darth Vader in action again on the big screen has me excited. A Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan film is the best thing that can happen with the standalone movie concept, but I'll gladly take a story detailing how the Rebellion got their hands on the plans to the first Death Star.
