Hi I find it kind of surprising that we ve only got one trailer for star trek beyond so far, and paramount's marketing has been lacking as of lately. furthermore I figure that any day now a 2nd trailer for star trek beyond should be released(suicide squad has 2 and it comes out 2 weeks after beyond!) so make a prediction when do you think it will be released? I predict maybe next week to mid apirl.

I hope they don't release anything until the movie itself, just to piss off those who feel entitled and remove power and profit from those who enjoy spoiling others. Well, even if Marketing doesn't like that idea, I do. Two seconds after one trailer, people simply demand the next one ad nauseum. Movies used to be unspoiled surprises.

I predict lots of fake trailer announcements will spam Facebook tomorrow.

Me too, almost as if there was a certain day of the year that promotes internet shenanigans.

Movies used to have trailers that were really long and gave away the whole movie.

Cherry pick much? There was no internet, there were print ads and highly specialized subscription magazines (Starlog started in 1976, etc.), posters, short TV ads in B&W or color if you were lucky, radio, and one probably had to drive to the theater to see long trailers like that. Don't let the ease of embedding an archived video on YouTube today confuse you with the effort it actually took in the 60s to see trailers like that. Entertainment Tonight only started in 1981, then Siskel & Ebert in 1986, and you had to be willing to tune to PBS for that.

Let's see every official trailer - or lack thereof - of every movie released in the 1960s with the release dates of the trailers and movies, how often and where and what time they ran (TV, theater, other), how many people saw them compared to how many people saw the movie, how many people demanded the kind of detail available today, the print ads, photo releases, and number of reviews, the saturation of reviews and set photos and plot points relative to the general public, and how many films were seen only on the basis of the star (John Wayne, etc.) or the genre, perhaps with only a minimalist slogan or logo (e.g., Alien in 1978 - the egg with "In space no one can hear you scream") and nothing else.

The Alien "egg" only trailer was just the teaser trailer.

I guess we get the next trailer with Captain America: Civil War. Maybe earlier.

In 12 days, which will be exactly 100 days before release.

Hmm, not sure about that. Disney will almost certainly attach a trailer for Star Wars Rogue One with Civil War.

I'm pretty sure there's enough time for more than one trailer with a big movie like Civil War.

Then again, the release schedule for Marvel films are kind of strange. It releases internationally on April 27, then in the UK on April 29, and then in the US on May 6.

That's actually pretty similar to how STID was released, first in Australia at the end of April, Europe early May, North America mid May.

Yeah, I always thought it odd that in the Netherlands, we get see the marvel movies a whole week or more before the US does.

As for a new trailer, I had kinda expected to see something more by now, if only because Justin Lin and Simon Pegg were so adament that the tone of the first trailer didn't properly reflect the tone of the actual movie. I had figured they'd wanna release something new after a month or so.
