Agents of SHIELD: Season 3 - Discussion (SPOILERS LIKELY)

I like Hunter and Bobbi, so I did enjoy their last episode. I thought the end was a nice farewell.
I like Mack too, so I liked him getting an episode that focused so much on him. I did not expect the Watchdogs to be working for Malick, so that was a big surprise for me. The stuff with Lincoln was OK. I had completly forgotten that Lash/Andrew was still out there, so the stuff with May and Simmons confused me at first. After all of the stuff with him, I was expecting him to be in the truck at the end. It will be interesting to see if they bring him back and tie him into the Watchdogs stuff. I could certainly see them wanting to use him as a weapon against the Inhumans.

I wonder if the show going this route has anything to do with the tenor of elements of the US political scene this year.
More likely, as Inhumans are surrogates for mutants in the MCU, it's just represents the standard issue bigotry that people tend to display towards anyone that is different.

Also, isn't it time they at least glancingly referenced the Netflix shows? Daredevil got himself a front-page newspaper article at the end of his S1; and while we know he isn't an inhuman, SHIELD probably doesn't. And how about at least a passing mention of the Kilgrave incident? They have no reason to believe he wasn't an inhuman, either. I get that it'd be awkward and not very dramatically interesting for, say, Daisy to try to recruit Matt Murdock and be politely rebuffed, but surely throw out a mention or two.
There is a line about Hell's Kitchen on the TV at 0:59 of this clip from this week's episode.

I honestly can't think of either category (notable law professors or people from Philly). Maybe that was just news filler?

Man, they're starting to kind of hit you over the head with the upcoming Civil War stuff and who's going to be on who's side.

That's two episodes in a row I really did not care for. I think it's because they feel very small and standalone in scale, dealing with very mundane villains. Also, what's going on with Fitz/Simmons? We haven't seen them together in a while. Just get smashing already

I thought this was a pretty good one. Mini-Mack seems to have learned a lesson, hopefully, which is nice-- he made a good example of how people can be corrupted into bigotry, but I wouldn't want Mack to have to deal with that on an ongoing basis. I wonder if it's an election year in the SHIELD-verse. Imagine them having to deal with the election of a Trump-like character.

Unfortunately, to balance things out, Daisy seems to be becoming more and more radicalized. I don't think that will lead to anything good.

And I don't think I like the idea of Simmons training to be an action hero. I don't know why they can't just let people be who they are. Can't the audience deal with somebody who's not a kick-ass, hard-ass, bad-ass dumb-ass?

Coulson's field evaluation of Lincoln was well done. Lincoln seems to be coming back from his bad first impression. Not to mention bad second and third impressions.

"Philadephia DA to hold press conference to discuss shooting of local law professor."
Does that sound like a Marvel Easter egg to anyone? Any notable law professors from Philly?
It's probably just a random news reference to pad out the screen. I couldn't find anything about a DA or law professor, but the Punisher did go on a shooting spree in Philadelphia once after breaking up a slavery ring, so it could possibly be a super obscure hint at what he's doing after Daredevil, but I highly doubt it. If they were trying to connect it to him, they'd have given a more obvious clue.

It couldn't be. The fact that gang warfare in Hell's Kitchen is a current event means that this episode takes place at or near the beginning of DD's second season. I think the "gang warfare" being referred to might actually be Castle's killing spree in the first couple of episodes, because at the time, the fact that these killings were the result of just one solo operator was still being kept quiet by the police.

Get a load of this preview clip for season 3 episode 15. I'm liking this new Hive version of Ward already.
