You just need to reverse the order of the quotes (e.g., reinsert the context AP stripped out his quote) to see the tap dance on donor's heads:

Alec says, "The big news is a meeting with CBS I had. While I can’t discuss details, I can say that it was good to finally find out what CBS thinks of us. Sure. I think their argument is a bit more too, that there isn't any action taken on their thoughts, only the thoughts exist, and even those are not finalized, so there is no crime. This works for one person's thoughts, its established principle. But once there is a group involved, and at least one concrete step was taken towards the contemplated action (i.e. build a set for the planned film), then in criminal law conspiracy penalties can apply, if the activity is criminal, like robbing a bank. Civil, I don't know what is analogous. But W&S seems to be making the comparison.
They are going to be shoved into discovery.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very STAR TREK that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a phaser, and be an extra in the greatest STAR TREK movie yet to be made! Either way, I don't give a damn what you think CBS and Paramount are entitled to.

Reading the sports news just now and something in the article about the US Women's Soccer team filing an EEOC complaint caught my eye and has changed my perception of this case.
Off to buy extra popcorn, because an international law firm that has 850 attorneys, does pro bono work as a matter of course and made $820 million in 2015 has the deep pockets to go the distance, if their intent is to set some new precedent.
Even though it was written by an abject failure at life - this is pretty good.
Not mention RMB said they had sent out their script to a breakdown service to send it to talent agencies all over town and that CBS had a copy and said it was a great script this was on the old ISWCBS group. And that CBS had a copy of 'the script' and that was how they got it. So, either RMB was lying that CBS thought it was the greatest script, or S&W are, or they never told S&W but I suspect there is a lot they've not told S&W.

But, why would CBS/Paramount put two guys on a stand to say a meeting didn't happen? That wouldn't be good for THEM. It would show that Peters wasn't warned to stop, that he was violating copyright. If anything it would bolster his "But, I didn't know" defense.
CBS/Paramount doesn't care if Peters lied to his donors or not. Him lying to his donors doesn't matter to their case. It is inconsequential to the case. The donors who are upset need to understand that CBS/Paramount's case doesn't revolve around them and justice for them. It might work out that way in the end, but CBS/Paramount are focused on their goals.
Nice to know our suspicions that Ares "Warehouse" Studios has been serving as a Propworx storage facility are correct, that Alec despite living on minimum wage has been able to spare enough lettuce to buy props, and that enormous amounts of money are being spent so that the production team doesn't have to creatively overcome any obstacle during shooting.
