As per spoiler TV... http://www.spoilertv.com/2016/03/star-trek-teaser-promo.html It's just the last 30 seconds of Enterprise (aka the good part of TATV). If you're as skeptical as I was, someone in the comments took a screenshot of CBS's PR site showing the video on there, so it seems as legit as the teaser poster was. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the fact they're using the end of Enterprise as is which was a showcase of Prime Trek through the ages to that point (Minus DS9/Ent) plus the con comment from Altman saying it's set in a universe "we'd all be happy with" is kinda suggesting maybe we'll see prime again. But that is still unconfirmed speculation, so still, grains of salt.
If that's real, I'd take two things from it. One, the show is called 'Star Trek', and two, it is set on an Enterprise.
Well, before TNG debuted, there were all sorts of commercials for it using the Genesis footage from TWOK, which had nothing whatsoever to do with TNG. This is probably more of the same.
The video doesn't even mention a new TV show. No "coming in 2017" or anything like that. It only says "Star Trek." It could just be a fiftieth anniversary promo, for all we know. Kor
If Star Trek & Star Wars were owned by the same studio, it would only be a matter of time before a well meaning advertiser grabbed stock shots off the shelf & accidentally spliced the Millennium Falcon into a Star Trek teaser.
Yeah, I don't see how that gets me to watch a new show it doesn't mention. I'd say if it's anything is promoting the brand in a big twelve months for it.
No, I agree. Everything we've seen and heard about this show suggests it will be set in the Primeverse. Also, there is the belief that CBS doesn't even have the rights to the Abramsverse, that property is owned by Paramount. I hope I'm right, it'd definitely be nice to get back into the classic Trek we all know and love.
Yeah, I wasn't absolutely sure about that, some others have said it on here so I just called it a "belief".
I just hope the show isn't bogged down by fifty years of continuity minutiae. It needs to stand strong on its own merits. Kor
I think all we can draw from this is that 98% of the footage available to CBS to make promos is Prime universe.
This feels much more like a 50th anniversary promo. Yes, the show is part of the 50th anniversary, but there is no indication in the video that it was created for the show.
Everything that we've learned about this show so far leads me to believe that if I repeat my fan theory on the internet often enough & some jackass believes me, it will force CBS's hand. With that in mind, I've heard that Shatner is definitely back as Kirk.
Yep. Because if you look at all the STAR TREK ('09) and ItD merchandise, you'll notice that it still lists CBS as the parent company.
Some fans keep repeating the ownership-split bullshit like it's gospel. What purpose is it serving, I wonder?
