Hi, I'm a on and off Star Trek fan for many years. I loved TNG and watched that as it aired. Didn't watch some of the other shows tho. I like TOS (was more into Star Wars growing up) but came to appreciate it more after seeing the new movies which I greatly enjoyed too.

Been searching for a nice place to occasionally discuss and post about the new movies but some places seem rather intolerant to fans of the new Star Trek films. Looking forward to reading news about the upcoming Star Trek movie which is soon being filmed.

I hope I'm in the right place!

It has been to quiet on this thread.
So this is a great moment for me to post my very first post on this forum! :rommie:

I've been a 'trekkie' for about 11 years now, but been watching the series since 17 years ago. Started with Nex Gen and got hooked by the age of 17.

So now I have all the films, series and a lot of games and even go to Star Trek conventions.

Proud to call myself a Trekkie :bolian:

    Hey, everybody!

My name is Ty, happy to be here.

Life-long fan thanks to my mom, and I'm getting my three-year old and five-year old primed for a lifetime Trek love, too.

School teacher by trade, avid reader, guitar player, and I like JJ Trek.

And speaking of love, I love all you guys!

Cool :-) I really love the Abrams films. I love the Michael Giacchino scores and i absolutely love Chris Pine as Kirk. Plus i especially loved all the throw back references to TWoK from Into Darkness. Superb film especially in 3D. Oh and i completely approve of the alternate time line.

Yep, Into Darkness was great. I don't get all the hate. More Trek is like more sex: That's not a bad thing. Looking forward to Beyond. The only thing I wish was that Bob Orci would give some insight as to what his original script REALLY involved.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome, happy to be here!

Why? Did Orci have something different in mind?

Indeed. The best I can gather from scrounging around teh interwebz is that Orci had the Vulcans time traveling to stop their planet from being destroyed by Nero. Messed with timeline, Shatner appears as Prime Kirk, hilarity ensues.

Well I'm glad they ditched that if that's what it was. Shatner's ego knows no bounds :)

That was the idea that was "Too Star Trek-y." Glad they ditched that. I hate time travel as a magic eraser.

Hey B & B used that a hell of a lot in various Trek series. Most notably Voyager

Yeah, and that's a big part of what ruined it as a plot device...

Hi all.. A long time fan of Star Trek. I just turned 40 years old. Grew up on Star Trek: The Next Generation. I am not sure if DS9 or TNG is my favorite show. I love both. I was not as big of a fan of Voyager or Enterprise. Enterprise got much better over the last season, too bad it was cancelled.

I am really hoping that the new show is a great way to get new viewers and fans of Star Trek. I hope it stays loyal to Star Trek. I believe Star Trek is much better made for TV than the theatre.

    Welcome!

TV vs theatre is a matter of preference for some, and that's fine, but here we're primarily about the recent movies. If it's the TV series you're interested in, you'll want to check out the Future of Trek forum, where there are currently several discussions in progress on the subject of the upcoming Access CBS television series.
