Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Yeah, I think they did them for stid too such as the bar scene between Kirk and Pike (wasn't in the script, JJ realized they needed to build their connection a bit more to explain why Kirk is affected by his death) and maybe the Spock/Sulu scene when Spock asks the crew to abandon the ship
It seems this actress and the character she plays possibly wasn't in the original cut if she joins the movie only now. I bet she films something with Pine

I don´t know if I need to be concerned about it.

Don't. Reshoots are as normal as breathing. Movie goes to test audiances, they like stuff, they don't like stuff. If it's simple/cheap enough to reshoot the stuff people reacted bady to, it gets reshot.

Did they use test audiences for the first movies? I remember Orci saying they didn't
Test audiences can do more damage than anything, sometimes. This fandom is a perfect example of how trusting what few think isn't a good idea lol

you are right. I remember a rumor about three females: the captain of a new Federation ship, the President of the United Federation of Planets, and the ex-wife of Bones. So, I think it is
being carried out as planned. YELLOW ALERT. DISABLED.

We've seen some photos from Dubai with Kirk (in a Franklin/Yorktown uniform) speaking to a female Admiral. I wonder if these are to replace those? *wild speculation*

Since she's supposed to some high ranking officer, it's not that that they're adding a new character who's present for much of the movie, but likely one or two scenes where they need a point of confusion clarified, or perhaps some official justification/acknowledgement of an act that occurs in the movie.

I too thought it could be a replacement for that scene OR they add a subspace comm scene between the crew and earth to explain, better, some plot point. Would make sense if while editing they realized there is some plot hole, or maybe they had to cut some scene for pacing issues but they need to replace them with an alternative that does fit with the cut they now have.

Some are speculating that the bad reaction for the trailer made them reconsider the movie having too much action scenes and now they add more character moments to balance things better. I'm doubtful ( and most of the actors are not available right now/filming other thing anyway)

The only thing I hope is that that realized some things to fix and will do that till they still can. I hope reshoots won't end up being of the bad kind that changes some plot points for the worse, or makes the movie lose great scenes.

For the movie 'I'm legend' reshoots and test audiences damaged it lol
(Stupid) test audiences didn't get the original ending so they completely changed the ending that made more sense for the book and also some plot devices and hints in the movie. By changing the end they basically changed the meaning of the title (Will Smith's character is 'legend' because he is considered a bad guy by the creatures as he keeps capturing their people and kill them. He wasn't legend because he finds the cure. The original ending was supposed to 'switch' roles and surprise, it has more depth and is, again, more similar to the novel. The definitive ending is predictable and turns the movie into another movie about a doctor finding a cure or someone saving the world like the one with Brad Pitt with the zombies. The idea he got the 'new humans' all wrong and he is the bad guy while trying to save them was far more interesting to me)

Both Simon Pegg and the director Justin Lin immediatly commented on the trailer, and that they weren't happy since it focused too much on the action, that part is true. But, they both also stated straight away that that was never the focus of the film. So I doubt these reshoots have anything to do with that.

I know reshoots are normal, but do they usually happen after trailers have already been released? It just seems a little late in the game to be doing this, and with a brand new actor as well!

A friend of mine reminded me of the scene in Dubai, where Pine is seen with someone who seems to be of the High Command.
My guess is that Justin did not like this scene and he decided to replace by someone more experienced. I read that this actress, Which is seen with Pine, was chosen as artist of Dubai. Maybe the scene with her did not work.

There is also a photo where Pine appears with a black eye. I do not know what happened. It may have been an accident. I do not know if They managed to hide it.
In the next two weeks Pine probably have a space in his schedule, Wonder Woman will start shooting in Italy at the end of the month

Reshoots may be common, but adding entirely new characters so late in the game? Guess we'll see how it pans out in a few months.

I don't see any issue if the new character is in an isolated scene and not shoehorned into the movie all over. Only one way to know for sure: wait for the movie.
