Does anyone like TMP uniforms?

There was the 1979 Mego stuff! Decker had a yellow uniform, IIRC.

Decker wears yellow in the early promo shots with the red badge of engineering so I assume Decker was primarily an engineer who was trained in the use of the science station but was not necessarily a science officer.

Everyone in this thread is forgetting Commodore Stocker, who was a redshirt, and almost got the Enterprise destroyed before a rejuvenated Kirk got back on the bridge.

And Mego! Man, they ruined themselves, trying to replicate the popularity of the tiny Star Wars figures with their Star Trek license. They should have done the TMP figures in their classic eight inch figures. They not only would have sold more, they would have blown the Star Wars figures out of the water. What a lost opportunity.

It seems TMP uniforms aren't liked by too many fans. Despite liking Kirk and McCoy's uniform, I myself think TMP uniforms are the worst in Trek. But I wanted to see if there was anyone who generally loves them, and if so, why. TMP uniform lovers, let your voices be heard!

Yucky lamē (and lame too) pijamas.

I really like those TMP uniforms and color schemes, they have a more serious-futuristic tone. My only grip are some uniforms that appears early in the movie, such as these:

Fortunately, these were improved for later shots and were less 'revealing' LOL. For obvious reason I really hate these :angryrazz:...however, women may like it

The one-piece outfits were a mistake. Otherwise the designs were fine. That said I didn't care for the Earth tones much.

The like is because it thought it was funny...not because...you know....Not that there's anything wrong with that!

It was supposed to be some kind of future-tech "second skin," but it just looked like 1970s Spandex. As for the "embarrassment" factor, humans were probably supposed to have evolved beyond such superficial blah blah blah. Roddenberry actually wanted some "we're comfortable with our bodies" casual nudity in TMP; luckily Wise talked him out of it.

Barely. You can almost see Ilia's molecule-sized microprocessors. Her replicator ration ran out just in time to preserve the modesty that she had evolved beyond.

Still when you look at the designs from these outfits the TOS colors couldve been installed. The design was definitely in the mindset of Star Trek but the color scheme was decided to be more like 2001 A Space Odyssey.

In a body stocking. Khambatta tells a pretty good story in the Return to Tomorrow book about Wise standing up for her vs. Roddenberry over her resistance to do a nude scene.

That sounds like a rather interesting discussion.

As for the uniforms, I think they have a lot of working potential, but the color scheme doesn't work for me or the biosensor.

Seeing... various... units... not necessary. As for Uhura's scene in TFF, I really hope I look that good in my 50s.

The biosensor was different and I liked the look of it. I wonder if it would look better if it also was colored differently? Some kind of metallic color in TOS sense.
