Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors, etc

I like the design of Spidey's costume, but don't think it was the smartest move to have him side with Tony because it runs a significant risk of tarnishing the character and negatively impacting his solo adventures.

The mask looks just like my Alex Ross Spider-Man bust on my desk. VERY Romita. Love it! (Are the eyes indications of Stark tech?)

Not a perfect costume overall, but I like it and maybe it'll move more towards a finalized look for his solo movie.

Along with some nice Black Panther action, this just might top Winter Soldier!

Well from earlier interviews it sounds like Spidey is just sort of on the periphery during the battle, and not fully committed to one side or the other. And I imagine he'll probably be one of those pleading the whole time for both sides to stop fighting.

That's not the impression the trailer gives.

Yeah, Tony did call him here, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll side with Tony the whole time.

Really good trailer and I feel much more excited for this than I do for Batman v Superman.
I think emotionally this might feel more real since we have had a number of films with these characters to get to this point so seeing our heroes fight each other carries more weight and impact.

I said this elsewhere, but it's relevant here too:
If the CW movie ends with any kind of catastrophic event such as Captain America's death or some other earth-shattering thing, it's not going to matter to some people if Spidey switches sides at some point. The blame is going to be laid on Tony and his allies, and Spidey will get some of said blame. It's a mistake, IMO, to even risk putting him in that position as the first introduction to him and his place in the MCU, especially when there's a perception out there that the character's reputation in general has already been tarnished by his last 3 cinematic endeavors (I don't agree with said perception, but it does exist).

Never liked Spiderman so him being minor comic relief is fine with me.

Wanda can own the Vision with a gesture, that's pretty awesome.

And I cannt stress how badly I do not want to see Bucky and Cap live through this movie.

I think the only people at risk of dying in Civil War are Bucky and or Rhodey.

Although I do find it funny that all movies now are addressing the accountability aspect of heroes and the battles they fight.

Superman for Metropolis in MOS.
The Autobots for Chicago in Dark of the Moon.
The Avengers for NYC, DC, and Sokovia. Also London from Thor 2 and that African city Hulk wrecked.
A bit of a throwback but Batman and the murder sprees caused by the Joker in TDK and Bane in TDKRises.

Heroes can't win for losing, I guess.

^^
They're just catching up to the comics.
There's a reason Marvel had a book called "Damage Control", and why the Hulk has been banished from Earth. Twice.

That's kind of what I mean.

Tony is finally doing what everyone has harassed him about for 11 movies and is asking them to all join him in creating a far more accountable, reasoned responce team where he doesn't just run off the first second.

And Cap, who has been the worst about this, is the one that sides with histories most insidious killer? to potentially kill all his fellow Avengers and put the whole world at risk?

Yeah, in the comics he died, so lets be accurate to that one point.

Banner has been banished again?

Then why do they have a "Totally Awesome Hulk" now? They removed one Hulk in place of another.

We have no idea if Bucky is remotely trustworthy at this point and if that brain washing won't kick in at a moments notice.

He see him trying to or actually killing War Machine and helping Cap try to kill Tony. Sorry, but to hell with them both at this point.

I figured that Stark recruits him. Peter is a geeky kid who builds his own gadgets, his webshooters in particular. Stark would have probably been his idol growing up even before becoming Iron Man. He'd probably jump at the chance to help him. I figure he helps out, but feels conflicted about beating up good guys especially a living legend like Captain America. During the fight, Iron Man and Cap and their teams get involved in fighting each other and cause a lot of damage endangering the lives of civilians. Only Spidey notices and immediately goes to help them, causing the others to realize they've screwed up.
