Star Trek Will Be Removed From Amazon Prime... Netflix Next?

It's not being removed: http://trekcore.com/blog/2016/02/amazon-renews-star-trek-streaming-access-through-instant-video/

The license was renewed.

As I've said here and elsewhere, all that panic at the disco was unnecessary. It was simply Amazon's license was up for renewal. But everyone and every media outlet went off half-cocked, speculating that CBS was pulling everything from streaming and moving it to All Access.

Relax, folks, everyone grab a green drink and chill.

Don't take away my anxiety.... I NEED my anxiety!

I don't have cable but I watch "Better Call Saul", "Halt and Catch Fire", and used to watch "Mad Men" through Amazon Prime. Anything that airs on cable, is available on Amazon Prime the next day.

It seems like Amazon is treated a different animal than Netflix. So, with that being the case, I can see Star Trek being dropped from Netflix -- and never being available on Netflix in the case of the next series -- but I don't think it would be dropped from Amazon Prime.

Never put all your eggs in one basket. Not everyone is going to get the CBS Streaming service just to watch Star Trek. There has to be a Plan B. Amazon Prime, and the like, fit it.

It's doubtful that CBS would allow another "monthly" subscription service to offer the new Trek series, directly competing with their own. Next day episodes would likely be offered thru the Amazon Video Store- the sales and digital rental side of Amazon, but not on it's "Prime Instant" service that's included as part of your yearly membership.

And that's fine, same as itunes etc. £2.50 per episode, at time of broadcast, £50 a year, no adverts, watch as many times as you want, perfect. Far cheaper than the £6 per episode months after broadcast that I used to pay in the 90s

I was worried there for a minute that I might actually have to get up from the couch and change the DVDs if I wanted to watch all the Trek episodes, instead of just using the remote to watch them on Netflix or Prime. Phew, bullet dodged.

#FirstWorldProblems ;)

I've just heard that the Space Channel here no longer has any of the Star Trek series.

It's looking like they really, really don't want Canadians to be able to watch Star Trek.

Prime in the UK had the TOS remasters and Voyager only, but they came down here about a year ago. Netflix only had season 5 to 7 of standard tng, which also went. Movie wise there's only Insurrection to Into Darkness.

Yup, TNG is also removed from Netflix as well. Was hoping they'd renew, but I guess not. Now all you get are the TNG Movies. Back to Proxy's for me.

That sucks. I tend to buy the stuff that has rewatch value to me. I don't want some license or corporate greed to stop me from watching the shows I like.

Yeah. I don't have TOS, VOY or ENT on Dvd. They are pricey though, only got the others in black Friday deals. I won't lie...I am not exactly champing at the bit for them, though Voy would be useful atm

I'm thrilled Prime is keeping Trek. They have the original SFX versions and most of the third season has a sound mix closer to the original than either the DVDs or the Blu-Rays have. They match up to the VHS/laserdisc sound mix. which makes me smile...
