CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I agree, it just that the donors were so supportive of them as a couple, and and some people talked about Axanar being "family", I just thought a little bit of "Hey guys we've parted ways but Diana is still on the team, thanks for your support" might have been good PR. Their donor relationship seems to be closer than your average business, with folks feeling like they are really part of the team that is making the movie.

Understood.. perhaps those dynamics will occur in their donor fb board, and it might be legit to speculate that the board would respond. Notwithstanding that dimension, I still would want to propose keeping a sharp boundary at personal relationships and private life wrt/ this discussion. It only seems right.

If we've learned anything throughout these proceedings, it is that Alec Peters wouldn't know a good public relations move if it showed up on his doorstep Christmas Day and served him a lawsuit.

True, they may have dicussed it in the donor board. I was only on there briefly, so probably missed it.

Again - he doesn't see the need for good PR because he, apparently, divides the world into two groups - "creators" and those who support them.... and everyone else.
*Spoiler alert*
Everyone else are haters.

Star Trek Axanar explains why Tony Todd left the project in two versions.

Version One
"Unfortunately Tony Todd will not be back, though. Tony opted not to come back when we wouldn't pay the $15,000 day rate he was asking. (We paid a fraction of that for Prelude.) With Ramirez having a tiny part in Axanar, we really couldn't justify that kind of expense. So, we'll have a different Admiral in his place... who is an Andorian."

Version Two
"Unfortunately Tony Todd will not be back, though. Tony is busy with The Flash at the moment (which is one of our favorite shows BTW). So, we’ll have a different Admiral in his place… who is an Andorian!"

Tony Todd made it plain on twitter why he wouldn't be involved.

Indeed he did.

Version Three

"We had no idea that one of the professional actors we were so excited about hiring would actually want to be paid a reasonable rate. We really have no idea how all this works."

It just bugs me that this relationship turnover was never discussed anywhere. They have been presented as a happy couple up until now. It feels like another secret Alec kept from the donors. Tony Todd, anyone?

I realize Diana may continue in her role as the fulfillment director and be perfectly happy, but it just looks sneaky.

Maybe it's just me, but it smacks of a lame attempt at shielding Ms.DK from implication--like you'd see on a cheesy TV legal drama, like Suits.

I had dropped this myself, having read the comments here; but then I looked in Wikipedia and at the Google results for the term.

If a reader of a press release looks up the term, the explanation they get is absolutely not just "a fiction in documentary form", the way a "mock trial" is a trial in its real form just not in a legal court, or "mock duck" is just imitation duck. The explanation presented is overwhelmingly that the term refers to parody, and *many* examples are given of the industry's own use of the term in this context. "This is Spinal Tap" stands out to me as an example.

"This Is Spinal Tap"..that would either be a mock rockumentary...or a rock mockumentary...

Let me see if I'm finally getting this straight. She's defining the term "mockumentary" as meaning simply a "documentary of fictional events," so as not to associate the word with parody and satire as so many other definitions do. So, does that mean she's claiming it protected under fair use as a legitimate type of documentary, in which there is no intent of parody or satire (humorous or otherwise)? Because it was essentially within a category of documentaries (a documentary over a fictional event), it's protected? Seems that would open up a future can of worms. If she "won" that idea, "Axanar" could be rewritten to be told as a series of flashbacks much like "Prelude" was. It would simply be a more detailed mockumentary of the fictional event. Or am I way off here?
SHE is not defining the word, she references the definition at dictionary.reference.com for the word "mockumentary." It's found at the bottom of Page 4 of the Motion, Page 13 overall of the entire document.

Chuckle. However, by using the word to describe "Prelude to Axanar" she is redefining the only thing ever completed by Axanar Productions.

By the by, I think Boomer is a Persian... so get your memes right folks.

Also in case you are wondering.. the Great Lord Garth wants you to know that EVERYTHING you have read about this case on the Internet is wrong.

Axanar no longer has any public FB groups, and has booted numerous individuals from both the "fan" group and the "donor" group. Alec has used his various ID's to argue with other posters in the comments section of virtually any news article on the subject.

They still have the "Movie" page, but it's not a Group.
