Indeed, it just happened to be bad timing. I have friends whom I love dearly, but there are entire years where we'll push apart, and then reconcile those differences. Sadly, Bill never had the chance to reconcile.

Of course we'll never know, but being the 50th anniversary they could have seen each other and reconciled. Hopefully Bill will come to terms with everything and be okay
It's sad, but as others have stated, it happens. I've got a friend I've known for 25 years and there have been months and months, almost a year in fact, were we weren't talking due to busyness on one or the other's part, but recently we reconnected and it's like we never quit.
Think the important thing is to "not go to bed angry" as is often said......

I got the book on my kindle but I'm only to chapter 2. Another thing I haven't seen anyone point out is that when someone is terminally ill they start pulling away from friends and Family sometimes because they don't want to break down or don't want to say goodbye so they isolate themselves. There could have been some of that going on as well. Personally speaking I know if I were in that situation, it would be the way I would react I imagine.
On a happier note, I'm now going to post something I usually never do, because normally I hate them. Them being clips of movies/tv to music. But the first time I saw this just got to me and whoever created did great timing with the music. I had never heard the song before, though now I'm aware it was written for twilight saga *gag*. But it makes much more sense to me as it is with this video. It has a K/S bent but you can also look at it in a Bromance type of thing. I love it either way because I always get warm fuzzy feelings thinking about their great friendship in the show that we all like to imagine they had in real life too.

Thanks for the wonderful video which does illustrate their special friendship/brotherhood. Theirs is a rare friendship (maybe what they call these days a bromance? not sure) They were stronger together and helped each other deal with the world around them, knowing there was someone who had each other's backs. They were like family and loved each other and weren't afraid to show it.
Funny how Amanda said in Journey to Babel, that Spock had never learned to smile even after being among humans for so long when he clearly does smile in The Cage and the early episodes of the series! Maybe it was one of those not in front of your mother moments?

Spock did smile in his own way. I'm not talking about when he wasn't himself (taken over by aliens or spores) in Charlie he was playing the Vulcan harp and when Uhura was going to sing he turned around and had a grin on his face. He grinned at Jim plenty of times. I think when his parents were on board he was like a lot of kids, uncomfortable and trying to be EXTRA Vulcan in front of both parents (especially his father)

Well, here's the thing: In "The Cage" Vulcans HAD emotions (and Spock was supposed to be a bit of a hothead/very emotional too - hence why he's often yelling things like "The Women!") When GR decided to axe the 'cold/analytical' "Number One" character (and despite what GR claims, the studio didn't want the character axed per se - just re-cast because the studio didn't want the Exec. Producer's mistress in a lead role as it may affect the production of this expensive show once/if the 'relationship' ended); so GR re-did his concept of the Vulcan race to make them emotionless and highly analytical beings.
Well Leonard Nimoy version of Vulcans was not emotionless but controlling their emotions in favor of being logical beings. He did show emotions from time to time. Especially when his friend/brother was in trouble. The scene from Breads and Circus' ep when McCoy said he wouldn't know what to do with a warm, genuine feeling and Spock turns to him and says "Really doctor?" he was worried about Jim. He controls his emotions for the most part but they do come through from time to time, mostly in subtle ways
I would say the smiles mostly appeared early in the first season, with a few exceptions, the most notable I guess being Amok Time. Again, this doesn't factor in episodes where he was "under the influence", so to speak. But your point is well taken, Trekfan12, as there were definitely times throughout the series where one got an intimation, but often an unmistakable one, of such feelings approaching the surface. I particularly liked his response to McCoy's apology about questioning his command decisions in the Tholian Web and Spock's reply, "What would you have me say, Doctor?"
Yeah sometimes Vulcans just control their emotions and other times they are an alien concept and don't possess any anyway! If that makes any sense?

No one will really know the reason behind Leonard's decision to stop speaking to Bill. Only if he told his wife or kids or someone else close to him would the reason come out. When asked if he still hung out with Bill on the Piers Morgan show he said that they didn't see each other much because they were both so busy and that Bill is busy doing his one man show. If there was some major difficulty Leonard was too private a man (and classy) to ever talk about it in public. He was ill and perhaps wanted to keep his distance from those closest to him. We'll never really know for sure.
I think the only one who will ever really know why he stopped speaking to Bill is Leonard. Unless he said something to his wife, and she won't say anything. I remember seeing a German car commercial that was made in 2014 that featured Bill and Leonard.
That would have been much better as an Acura commercial.

I went to the Star Trek convention at Vegas in 2009 and Shatner and Nimoy were there and performed together. They were as thick as thieves there.
So the problem must have occurred after that.
I'm surprised to see that people think its Nimoy's fault. Shatner alienated almost everyone from the Star Trek cast. Maybe everyone was jealous...
