CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

They just don't need to be putting C&Ds on anyone themselves. Argue for openess across the board--that's your best bet.

unless some secret emails leak some day proving this was an industry takedown of a 'superior product', one would have to agree that charting a conciliatory path through the legitimate concerns might have got them everything they wanted as fans.

I linked the FB page to another forum back in January. People in the Axanar Fan Group were wondering about these folks and what their motivations were. Probably so they could send them a C&D lol.

ALIEN: Oh. Star Trek IP theft restricted. Take permits many. Money, more.
AP: There aren't going to be any damn permits! How can you get a permit to do a damn illegal thing? Look, price you name, money fans got.
ALIEN: Movie YOU name, money I name. Otherwise, bargain, no.
AP: All right, dammit. It's Axanar. The name of the movie we're making is AXANAR.
ALIEN: AXANAR?!
AP: Yes, Axanar! How can you be deaf with ears like that?
ALIEN: Axanar allowed is not. ...Is movie forbidden!

Me: Wouldn't now be the perfect time to do a real fan film version of Axanar that doesn't cross lines? :-)

CBS: "Mr. Peters? I'm sorry but your voice is carrying. I don't think you want to be discussing this subject in public."
AP: "I'll discuss what I like! Who the hell are you?!"
CBS: "CBS Legal."
AP tries the neck pinch. It doesn't work.
CBS: "This project is going to get a nice long rest, Mr. Peters."

Yep. These films were never intended to be day jobs. They were always intended to be stuff on the side people did because they felt they were fun or creative or the like. But day jobs? Nope. That's why people work in all sorts of other industries. It's supposed to be a hobby.
And that's all they can ever be, jespah?

Of course that's all they can ever be. CBS owns Star Trek, not the folks making fan films.

Huh. Banned from yet another forum. From post #127:
"I can only hope history does not repeat itself."

Hmm. I see that questions arose there as to where the money had gone, and He was not prepared to handle that.

And since it seems almost everyone who HAS done business with Propworx is happy with us, and all the complainers and attacks are from people who have not done business with us, I suggest there is no point to this thread.

He hasn't improved a bit.

Is there a Forum Alec hasn't been banned from? The guy seems all to happy to give his own unfiltered opinion but really hates it when others give them theirs if it isn't positive.

Or if they ask a simple question, he gets defensive. He's a shinning example of the Village motto from THE PRISONER:

"Questions are a burden to others. Answers a prison for oneself."

Axanar Fan Group on FB?

When you control the message, it's easier not to get banned. And far more easier to ban others.

"If you aren't a Propworx customer, I am not interested in chatting." (link)

:guffaw:

You know the big problem with that attitude? It turns off potential customers. Some people want more information before they feel comfortable doing business with someone. If you're unwilling to address their concerns then they'll go elsewhere. If there's a lurker who is thinking about doing business with you--but doesn't have any active questions--the attitude suggests there's something the company is trying to hide.

"Trust me" is a horrible thing to ask of customers/potential customers. "Test me" is what you want. If your business is well-built then any test a customer comes up with is one you can handle. (Some customers, of course, require firing because they're the equivalent of real-life trolls. Fortunately, they are few enough that they don't undermine the general principle behind "test me.")

The Garth episode war airing on German SyFy earlier. I hadn't seen it in ages so after watching it again, I now have two theories regarding Peters:

1) It is just one big piece of performance art by him, living his "role".

2) To compensate for his total lack of acting abilities he has inserted himself so deep into the role of Garth of Izar, that he has "turned into" Garth of Izar.

It's just uncanny how much his persona resembles the one of "his" role: delusional, believes himself the ruler of the Galaxy (or of Star Trek in Peters case), has followers that don't question him, is willing to sacrifice people for his gain etc.

I posted this over on the CBS page but since that was shuttered I thought I would post it here. Apologies if some or all of this has already been covered.

It seems Axanar has several routes for raising money outside of Kickstarter and Indiegogo:
1. Selling merch like patches, t-shirts, blurays, etc at cons
2. Selling merch in the “Donor Store”
3. Soliciting direct donations at cons
4. Soliciting additional donations inside Ares Digital
5. Soliciting additional donations on the Axanar website aka “Retroactive Donations” wherein someone could donate an unlimited amount of money
http://www.axanarproductions.com/…/retroactive-donor-pack…/…
Here’s the problem - none of this additional money is listed on the 2015 Annual Report. Only Kickstarter, Indiegogo and some Backerkit funds are listed. How much was raised via outside routes during the time period covered by the Annual Report? How much has been raised from August 1st, 2015 to present? What are/were the funds used for?

^ Is Rob Burnett Marta? Or Terry?

I was more thinking about other fan productions or Tony Todd being Marta, with him throwing them under the bus after cooperating/using them in the past. But the case is still young, so more than likely someone even closer to him will be sacrificed to prove a point soon enough.
