Teams like the Kings get a pass because they have their heads up their asses. I don't know why that's better for the NBA. If the Sixers just looked like such incompetent management that they would be in the lottery for seven years but had no plan to get out, would that be more forgivable? Is it because they look like they have a plan that it's different?
That is exactly why the Kings get a pass, if that's what you want to call it. The league can live with incompetence (hello, Donald Sterling for 30+ years). The league can't live with a team committing itself to losing over multiple seasons with no end in sight and making it obvious that that's what they are doing.

Wow, so the 6ers hire Colangelo and he immediately brings in Mike D'Antoni as "Associate Head Coach". Also read that Kendall Marshall, who flourished under D'Antoni in L.A. at point guard, and is one of those pesky veterans that Hinkie has been reluctant to sign, will soon be activated.

Sounds like the 6ers are going to try to actually win some games, which is in direct conflict with Hinkie's plan. At this point, it looks like both Hinkie and Brown may be out after the season if not sooner.

One of my gifts for Christmas was tickets to today's warriors game. Fun time was had. Glad they won, even though there was not much flow to the game at all.

^They play in Houston next game. I have a feeling they will make the necessary adjustment. But they're also missing Harrison Barnes and a couple of other key role players, so time for Luke Walton to do some real coaching.

Shows just how incredible the Bulls' 72-10 record is. As big a Lakers fan as I am, I think the Bulls record will stand even longer than the 33 straight. The Warriors can only lose 8 more games between now and April just to tie the record, only 7 to set a new one. Seems impossible. Season isn't even half over.

Of course the Lakers' record is the more prestigious. :)

It bums me out that the Warriors haven't played the Spurs or the Thunder yet this season. Now in about a week and a half those teams will finally meet for what should be a few postseason previews. Should be a fun week.

Well, I will say this the Warriors just dismantled two of the best teams in the Eastern conference. So even if they don't break the Bulls' record, they have a good chance of winning the Finals.

I didn't know they hadn't played two of the best teams in the west yet. With that in mind, I reiterate that the 72-10 record will very likely stand for many years. The Pistons' loss was just one of those flukes that happen in the NBA, but it's still a loss.

But I agree that the Warriors (at this point anyway) look quite capable of repeating. This is where their focus is, and well it should be. If the Dubs repeat, that should be an embarassment for the Spurs.

Now LeBron has pissed off the Israelis. They, along with the rest of the thinking public, believe LeBron was instrumental in getting David Blatt fired. LeBron may be telling the truth about not having anything to do with it, but does anyone believe that if LeBron said "no", that the Cavs would have fired Blatt? I don't think so.

Also, Bron is not the first player to get a coach fired and certainly won't be the last.

BTW, I've always liked Tyronn Lue. I wanted him interviewed during the Lakers' last coaching search.

Whether or not the Warriors break the wins record I'm not sure anyone can beat them in a best of seven series. Maybe the Spurs.

I'm stoked on my Celtics now. Looking like they could win a playoff series, currently hot one game out of third with a young growing team and the Nets first round pick, not to mention three other first round picks.

And just found out Isaiah Thomas made the all star team. Kind of ironic since when I first became aware of the NBA Isaiah Thomas was the arch enemy.

Must be weird for him, being an NBA all star and not being the most famous player with your first and last name. I suppose in a few years there will be a bunch of Michael Jordans who feel the same.

Now Celtics have won nine out of ten and are in third place in the east. This could be an exciting first month of playoffs for Celtics fans.

The Kings clearly had no choice to pull them but it's unfortunate that we have a culture where outrage is reactionary without first considering context.

Derek Fisher has been fired. I'm not sure it was justified given that the team is much better, although I'm not sure he should have been hired in the first place. I like that Bill Russell was once a player-coach and would love another one to happen, so that makes me a little sad.

I watched the Warriors/Thunder game over the weekend. What is soul crushing for the Thunder is that Curry and the Warriors were ice cold from beyond the arc and they still got you. No way the W's are that cold in multiple games in a seven game series.

What's even more soul crushing is that Golden State is rumored to be a solid contender for the role of Kevin Durant's future employer.
