Security "Blue Shirts" in 'The Cage' & 'WNMHGB'

That's what I thought, too, when I made this:



It's hard to figure out a consistent system for either pilot, just going by what was shown.

This is arguably off topic, but I really like the idea of mixing the functional insignia with different department colors. And it's not entirely without grounding in the real world. One of my earliest jobs was as an IT trainer for a regional retailer in the Northeast US. Everything about my job was about technology. But my department was HR. Onboard ship, I could easily see science guys having use for their own engineer to rig new tools as necessary, and etc.
 
I was never sure if those guys dressed in 'body armor' in the TOS movies were meant to be regular security or some kind of marines/MACOs?

Well, they called for a security team and that's who showed up, so I'd guess regular security.

Well we've seen engineers in blue and scientists in red.
