Lemelisk! Say it! Say it!
That description sounds like it has a lot of potential, if it's legit. The above discussion about the different Anthology movies and the mention of Rebels, made a thought pop into my head. Do you think there is any chance we could get an animated Anthology movie? I know the Clone Wars movie was a disaster, but I think the CW series and Rebels show there is interest in animated Star Wars. Now they could potentially have access to Disney Animation Studios, and the talent behind movies like Frozen, Big Hero 6, and Wreck It Ralph. Disney even owns Pixar, so if they really wanted they could even work with them on it.
Someone had to, else it wouldn't have been that actually recovered it... it would have been whoever it was that delivered the plans instead.Do we know for a fact that the team who stole the Death Star plans all died? I know many Bothans died bringing the Alliance the second Death Star's plans, but I don't remember them saying anything like that about the team that stole the plans for the first one.

In the new canon, we don't know anything about how the Rebels acquired the plans or who went on the mission. (I don't think Lucasfilm has even released any character names yet.)
There might be a Starfighter element as well as a ground forces element to the plan. The Starfighters will likely make it out, but the ground team? Probably not. Rogue One, for the most part, is seen as a pilot designation that Luke would later have on Hoth (though he would be called Rogue Leader)
It takes some serious talent and experience to be able to pull off what Gwendoline Christie did with Phasma
