Yeah, I remember our old STF runs back then.
Good times.
I recommend rerolling sn entire new toon.
The game is practically new from your perspective.
The content has been entirely revamped.

And let us know when you want to rejoin the TrekBBS Armada. We still exist and are actually running pretty strong and healthy unlike so many other fleets.
We are on the verge if completing building up our starbase finally.
So you will have access to all the good stuff when you get your new toon to endgame.

I did have an "Eureka!" moment over the week and was able to get my account straitened out. I just have got back into the game because I was too enamored with watching Star Trek to play Star Trek.

But I am going to get things going again either today or this week. The anniversary starts on Tuesday, right? And lasts a month? How long does it usually take to finish everything for the free ship? I'd like to have an idea on how fast I need to level. (I assume I only need to be 50 instead of 60 to get one?)

You can get the ship at any level I think. You just can not use it till level 50 or do.
Usually they give you a headstart in the grind by playing the anniversary episode which covers like 40% of the requirements.
The rest should be doable in 2 weeks if you do the daily mini game.

I've restarted the game with a new toon and I'm just heading to P'Jem. You are correct it is just like a new game, the missions and the structure is completely different - almost like playing a sequel! I'll be sticking with my toon and levelling him up though my old toon (T'Jon) seems to have been deleted! As soon as I can join a fleet I will be right back in TrekBBS Armada. It's also great playing the game with the graphics maxed out now! :-D

You can actually join a fleet pretty much instantly when even still standing at Starfleet Academy.
All we need is your character@handle for the invite.

Any advice on levelling up? Or is it just a case of doing all the missions? I have a lot of catching up to do....

You should be fine with just playing missins to level. There are still old patrols around but you have to actively go to their system to find them. When you unlock the duty officer system at level 11 or so that adds in earnung XP and other rewards.
During leveling you will have access to a few PvE queues as well, PvP is pretty much dead.

Speaking of STF runs, in my other fleet I'm trying to organise regular runs to play those queues that are hard to PUG (few people or no people queuing up), or fleet action queues if we have more than 5 people. There's still so many STFs I haven't run because it's nearly impossible that I decided to do something about it, and have private runs with friends

So if someone wants to join, here's when:

Wednesdays, 9 PM GMT / 10 PM CET / 4 EST / 1 PST
Saturdays, 10 PM GMT / 11 PM CET / 5 EST / 2 PST

Everyone can log on today and claim 2 specialzation points on EVERY character. You won't be able to use them till level 60, but claim them anyway.
Every day till the end of the week another c-store item will be given away for free. Some will be claimable on every character, some might be accountwide unlocks and some might be one character only. so keep an eye out for what each day brings.

Not really. You have to join one. May I ask why you don't just join the TrekBBS Armada? You don't have to do anything once you are in, but you get all the benefits the fleet provides anyway...
