Star Trek Will Be Removed From Amazon Prime... Netflix Next?

Hi all,

All Star Trek series aside from The Animated Series will be removed from Amazon Prime in 25 days. Here's proof. I imagine that Netflix will follow suit as CBS wants All Access to be "the home of Star Trek". The only question I have is, how long until they pull the plug on Netflix?

That kinda sucks. They're probably doing that in relation to Beyond and the new Trek series. Oh well, maybe I'll get All Access if it's worth it. *shrug*

I find it difficult to believe this will actually be a thing for any extended period of time. It would be an utterly stupid move both financially and in PR terms.

Their licensing is probably just up for renewal. I don't think it's time for panic at the disco.

Thanks for pointing out that Prime has Trek for free. I'm off to watch. :D

Hurry up. You have 25 days to watch 703 episodes. Which comes out to about 514 hours and 34 minutes.

That gives you 3 hours, 25 minutes, and 24 seconds every day to sleep and prepare for the next round of episodes.

If only I didn't have bills to pay...

If you cut it down to only what's essential, he only has about a hundred hours to cover.

In theory, it's all good, as is working towards micropayments. I want to watch Man in the high castle, why should I subscribe to amazon and pay for the things I don't want like "free delivery" for $10 a month, why not just watch man in the high castle for $5 a month.

In practice though it won't work that way, and you'll lose in the war of psychology.

How much would you pay for all-you-can-eat classic trek? $1 a month? $2?

If you get to a point where the price is too high, then don't buy it. You could buy DVDs instead. Or you could not watch it at all. Or you could lobby your government to reduce copyright duration back to the original 28 years that was in the constitution.

Expired licenses... another good reason to own physical media instead of relying on the nebulous and ephemeral world of streaming video subscriptions.

Yep, and another reason for investors in streaming media to kill physical media. Whose interests do you think will be best served - the viewers' or the studios'?

I dunno, somebody must be making a pretty penny when I pay $25 for a single new blu ray movie that cost two bucks to manufacture.

Yup

Yah, Brother. Give me another one.

Thank God for DVDs and Blue-Rays. I'm eyeing my collection right now.

Me, too

We've made somebody rich, that's for sure.
