CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Someone pointed the following out to me on the Axanar Kickstarter site. Guess David "no dog in this fight" Gerrold really doesn't have a dog in this fight. Maybe a horse. Or a donkey.

I was explaining to a friend of mine over Facebook about why it's actually Alec's fault.

I managed to convince him with the evidence in this thread (and information given to me by sources of mine close to the source.) Next thing I know, after expressing my empathy for fans of the project, some rando enters the thread and asks me if I had donated.

Upon answering no and asking why that's relevant, I get this
Relevant because it seems some of those who complain the most about Axanar are those who had no stake in it.

It's true. Most of the loudest voices calling for Alec Peters' head, be it at TrekBBS, the "I Stand With CBS" page, or even on my own group, were either non-donors or gave a minimal amount (I even offered to refund someone's $15 out of my own pocket).

IDIC in its purest form.

AND HE NOW ASKS HOW THAT WAS A PERSONAL ATTACK, AFTER HE BROUGHT IT UP

ask him if he then considers the judge for the case invalid, because the judge does not have a stake in Axanar. Does he consider any press coverage invalid, because reporters/bloggers do not have a stake in Axanar. Would the opinions of the project from the Trek actors be invalid, because most of them have no stake in Axanar. Is everyone in the world banned from having an assessment of Axanar if they have not contributed?

What makes that charge especially funny is that the most damning evidence I've been given was from people who WERE involved.

They're just repeating what Lord Peters said about non-donors being the ones that complain the most and are the 'haters' or whatever.

Just wanted to pop my head in to share this story. Which totally has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. Nothing at all:
Kickstarter has posted its post-mortem on how Europe’s most-crowdfunded project suddenly collapsed, marking the first time the company has hired a reporter to examine a failed project.

In a 13,000-word article first sent to backers of the Zano handheld drone and then re-posted on Medium, journalist Mark Harris concluded that Wales-based Torquing Group over-promised and under-delivered due to incompetence rather than malice.

"I don’t think any amount of time or money with those people would have resulted in a success," Harris told Ars. "I got the impression they were in over their head. They were out of their depth."

I posted a few links to USA consumer protection lawsuits being filed over crowdfunding failures, back a bit in this thread. If by any chance you aren't already familiar with these, they make an interesting read. Actions being brought by govt, not class action.

Colin is talking about me I see... HAH... lol

Apparently Axanar is also using a lot of Ender's Game props bought at auction. They advertised a Ender's Game jumpsuits (repurposed as Cadet Uniforms) as a donor perk, and you can see a chair here.

I thought that was an interesting tidbit.
