CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

When the shit hit the fan, they were claiming it was them seeing the script which prompted the lawsuit (although I imagine the Axanar Annual Report had more to do with it)

Which is irrelevant to the suit but I am guessing the response will be "like all unsolicited scripts, this was read by nobody".

Almost all of the contributing artists (all but Tobias Richter, I believe) have done so on a 100% volunteer basis. Since the rhetoric of the complaint seems to target those who "vicariously infringed" (those that received a direct financial benefit), it would be a stretch to drag the artists into it.
I really liked the pilot console you designed for them. And I really hope that at the end of the day, Pacific 201 goes unscathed by this. With that said, if fan films get a wide stink eye from CBS/Paramount, Your film looks to be the easiest to "File the serial numbers off" off, because so much of what you had was more original concepts anyway...

Ah, the wonders of insomnia...

  • I would consider MGM a client of Propworx by my understanding of the context, which is close enough to customer for me. I guess it's true, though, they didn't lose a dime -- they lost 3,000,000 of them if the numbers I've heard are correct.
  • Oh, but it was only MGM, it must be okay!
  • Not being able to fulfill your obligations "is business"? No. Just no.
  • They did it, so it's okay if we do it! Hmmmm, that sounds familiar...
Sigh.
300,000 to MGM, but also many utility companies and professionals, and a travel company. And of course he lied about assets. I believe the total was over 400,000.

It's only 7:00 AM out there. He may just be rolling out of bed. Let him grind some Axanar coffee, make a pot, and have a cup. We'll find out soon enough.

He replied to someone at 7:04AM PST this morning. So he's up!

Peters has turned himself into a minor internet reality star!

We know he can't win in court.
We know he can't continue to do Axanar as a Star Trek Film.
We know if he fights he'll lose all of it.

I think he might announce that he's settled with CBS. Specifically he'll state that he wasn't going to waste donar money on a lawsuit. But it's all good because Axanar will continue as a new project.

Really it's his only choice if he wants to keep going.

You're not worried at all? Volunteer or not can you name 20 people further up the chain?

Or maybe Gerrold is coming in as a script doctor? Give the thing one last polish while offices are being carpeted.
