CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

We shot an interview with James on the bridge set showing off some Trek costumes. It appeared as an "extra" on one of the Trek Blu-Rays. I forget which one. Might be one of the TNG Blu-Rays, but I suspect it was the TMP disc. When it comes to Alec vs. James, I think we are simply talking about two different segments for two different extras for two different discs.

Instead of talking about it why don't people just watch the doc, as I did the other day? The sequence with Mr. Cawley is brief. Alec is in most of it. It's all on the Trek II Blu-ray.

Your check is already in the mail.

We have three rules.
1. Nothing illegal. (includes death threats)
2. No dead bodies.
3. Be groovy.

As for the rest, I believe in giving people enough rope to hang themselves. Believe what you want. Like what you want. Be prepared to back it up if you have specific reasons though.
Which, could actually be summed up with one simple rule, established by Bill S. Preston Equire, and "Ted" Theodore Logan... "Be Excellent to one another"

It's just hard to be sympathetic to them. The entire group has been so tin-eared about the thing and walked straight into their problems. It's just an intriguing thing from several points of view, that's all. And I think all most of us are engaged in is a form of gallows humor and disbelief. I don't think it's pure schadenfreude.

To clarify, I was agreeing with Maurice wishing no one any harm. With that said, I'm not losing my sense of humor over the Axanar fiasco. IMO, Peters has painted himself (and Axanar) into a corner of his own devising and his bombastic statements will haunt him for years.

The way things are going, Mel Brooks would be a perfect choice screenwriting and directing the spoof Axanar: Blazing Phaser Foot Bullets. lol.

Seriously, it was one guy. He was unhinged. Things were questioned by the group. He was banned. We were all taken very much aback by this (except that Inara who was actually defending his actions). Very frustrating. Regardless, even if Facebook were to investigate any claims, they'd see a prompt and decisive action from the Admins.

Then again, I never put it past Dominic's ilk to blow something like this completely out of proportion.
This is one of the things that drives me crazy when these kind of conflicts come about. You get one crazy person who makes one bad comment, and the other side instantly takes it completely out of context and ignores every reaction to it, and then tries to use it to make that group look bad.

I doubt they'd double up on the titles. Usually they would put both titles like

Alec Peters
C.E.O. Propworx/Star Trek Archivist

OR they would just call him the Archivist because they would have more gravitas with the audience. I'd certainly care more about what Star Trek's Archivist has to say than the CEO of some company I've never heard us.

I mean, NASA could refer to Neil Armstrong as

Neil Armstrong
Command Pilot, Gemini 8

But that's not why he was getting interviewed.

This could be like someone jokingly saying "Sure, I guess you could call yourself Star Trek's archivist!" and he ran with it, sorta like how when a child gets a plastic badge from the police department and they pretend they're an actual cop because the adults play along.

The only person I've ever heard with the title of STAR TREK archivist was Penny Judy. Although, Richard Arnold served a bit as one in his role as STAR TREK researcher. Guy Vardaman also served in that capacity as he worked in front of and behind the cameras.

And when you're dealing with a bunch of Star Trek artifacts immediately before they're actioned off to the highest bidder you're literally doing the opposite of archiving.

As I posted before, he said in a blog a few years ago he was archivist for cbs wrt/ material touring on the Experience, in as much as cataloging and perhaps overseeing storage of that material made him an archivist and entitled him to that title with cbs. Didn't he sell a bunch of the touring exhibit's stuff a few years back? The absence of the article (an/the) from the title when being quoted does introduce potential ambiguity. being "an" archivist of some material would be different from being "the" archivist, and not necessarily interchangeable. I don't recall him ever saying outright he was "the" archivist, but I could be wrong.

props are Alec's strong suit and it certainly seems he loves them. developing Axanar, who knows without seeing the script, maybe there's something great there. but he should have left the business matters to others. Its regrettable to see where it has ended up.
