CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Extra points to @Maurice for the Minor Prophets reference! When Renegades came out and was rightly savaged, @Tom was quite the class act. He absorbed the criticism and promised to address the issues raised. Alec hasn't even made an actual film aND yet he cyber stalks critics, labels anyone who doesn't completely agree with him as a "hater", and does not tolerate any opposing viewpoints. That sort of behavior minimizes the sympathy I might have for his current predicament.

No one can post a question or challenging information on Axanar company 'discussions' (fb, etc.) online, its removed instantly. That is, alternative interpretations of the official corporate output are not welcome, and the audience is the official property of the corporation, its not a group of fans who are permitted rally to appropriate Axanar's future for themselves outside of the bounds of the IP of Axanar.

Setting aside whether any justice is deserved, the censorship certainly is ironic.

Yes, I understand where you're coming from...;-)

Guilty.

I wish no harm on anyone just because I disagree with them, but in this instance...

lol....

Understandable...

I genuinely felt bad about disliking Renegades, because @Tom was such a class act about it, and he actually listened! They put in the effort to improve, and that will always gain more respect from me than anything else (I hope they've found another scriptwriter since Melinda left).

As for Axanar, I wanted to see it, but Alec's attitude has made certain that even if it were released now, I likely wouldn't watch it. That whole team at the top has soured any goodwill I had for the project.

i find the allegations of dominic disturbing

Put on your official Star Trek II Blu-ray. There is a bonus feature hosted by Peters about various prop and costume collections. He shows off a few of his own items.

Neil
I don't think Peters was in that. As I recall it was hosted by James Cawley on his bridge set.

The problem is said 'allegations' were answered by the person who started the 'I Stand With CBS' FB group - and as usual Mr. Peters is embellishing to a high degree (big surprise):

http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/cbs-paramount-sues-to-stop-axanar.278077/page-230#post-11428380

Personally, I'm more annoyed with Mr. Doug Fitz characterization of people who understand why, and support CBS in this whole debacle (And I'm an Axanar backer - to the tune of $75 for the first full Axanar feature KS - and I honestly did want to see the finished film - but given Mr. Peters propensity for outright lies; his inability to accept any criticism; and his outright blatant and illegal merchandising of items using the Star Trek (and other IPs) he doesn't own and hasn't licensed the right to use; not to mention using backer money to build a studio space that he planned to use for other 'for profit' productions; (IE using the 'Star Trek' IP to get start up money for a for profit business (and lets not forget paying himself and his wife a salary)...

It's no wonder CBS/Paramount legal said enough is enough and filled a lawsuit. The raging egomaniac deserves everything he's going to get (and no, CBS/Paramount won't reach a settlement that allows his to complete 'Axanar' either.) Personally, I wish I'd done my homework and researched his shady 'Propworx' history before I handed over my cash to this lunatic. But, that's my mistake, and I have no one to blame but myself.

Amen. His attitude actually made me give it another chance. It still has issues, but it's at least amusing to watch.

(I hope they've found another scriptwriter since Melinda left)

Amen.

I really don't get these people.

"Hi, We're CBS and Paramount. We make Star Trek." --CBS/Paramount
"We support you!" --fans
"NOOOO!!!! ALL YOU IDIOT FANS!!! BY SUPPORTING THEM YOU STAND AGAINST TREK!!!" --Axanads
:wtf: -- CBS/Paramount, fans, and anyone else with a brain.

I feel far better having lost a bunch of money in a vain attempt to win a billion dollars yesterday then I would have had I not done my research and avoided donating to Axanar. :nyah:

I don't have a strong opinion on it other than liking the prelude mockumentary, but it's really common these days for people to try to play the victim and say some group is threatening to kill them when in reality it's just a shit post or some random idiot makes a poor joke.

So that guy thinks he can falsely and publicly accuses people of engaging in a conspiracy to commit murder, and that there's no risk that doing so will come back to bite him in a serious way?

Seems like Alec's not the only one reading 'The Dummies Guide to Attracting Lawsuits and other Unwanted Legal Attention.'

Doug Fitz FKA Para Mobius is a well known nutjob, I wouldn't worry about anything he has to say.

Seriously, it was one guy. He was unhinged. Things were questioned by the group. He was banned. We were all taken very much aback by this (except that Inara who was actually defending his actions). Very frustrating. Regardless, even if Facebook were to investigate any claims, they'd see a prompt and decisive action from the Admins.

Then again, I never put it past Dominic's ilk to blow something like this completely out of proportion.

What Dominic fails to mention is that he contacted me about the death threat and when I immediately asked for a link he found that the administrator had already removed the post. That's pretty sharp and responsible modding.

Dominic seems like a nice guy but he works on Axanar. I'm disappointed to see him mischaracterize the group that way.

We shot an interview with James on the bridge set showing off some Trek costumes. It appeared as an "extra" on one of the Trek Blu-Rays. I forget which one. Might be one of the TNG Blu-Rays, but I suspect it was the TMP disc. When it comes to Alec vs. James, I think we are simply talking about two different segments for two different extras for two different discs.

Your check is already in the mail.

We have three rules.
1. Nothing illegal. (includes death threats)
2. No dead bodies.
3. Be groovy.

As for the rest, I believe in giving people enough rope to hang themselves. Believe what you want. Like what you want. Be prepared to back it up if you have specific reasons though.
