I love Enterprise.

I also feel that Phlox had made the match by pairing Trip with T'Pol. A lot of passion was there and some strange aspects like that telepathic white room their bond sent them in. Other times, it was very down to earth, like when they dealt with their cloned child. There was never any rhyme or reason to any of it, they just had a bunch of random stuff happen over the course of their relationship and in some ways, perhaps ... it leant itself to a certain realism, that way. But they looked great together and were totally believable as young lovers.

Is something wrong with me? lol

You're probably not familiar with fanfiction. Here's one for the Trip/T'Pol relationship (which has links to older ones). Stories with this pairing outnumber pretty much every ship out there. By the way, count me in as a fan. I'm a shipper myself but just think it was so contrived to use a character we never met to make T'Pol jealous. Why couldn't they just bring back someone Trip was previously attracted to (Ah'len, Liana)?

There's many stories featuring Reed/Sato too but they never got their own site as far as I know. I heard there were Archer/T'Pol sites back in the day but have long ago died from lack of maintenance. But I didn't check out ENT fanfiction back then so take from it what you will.

Huge T/T shipper here. I think the relationship had great potential to serve as a precursor to Sarek and Amanda of TOS, and it seemed good groundwork was laid in S3 to explore it, but then in S4 time grew short and a lot of stuff got ditched as the show tried to cram the last four seasons into one.

So a lot of potential left unrealized. But some lovely fanfic helped to make up for that. This was the place for T/T fanfiction back in the day: http://triptpolers.houseoftucker.com/fiction

The way they hooked up was lame (worst part of that otherwise good episode), but they were believable as a couple.

Archer seems like a guy whose dedication to his career would ultimately mean he was a bachelor all his life. Unlike Reed, at least it was from choice. ;)

I totally ship Mirror!Archer and Mirror!Hoshi.

Actually no I don't.

But I'm definitely more likely to get behind a pairing if it involves a little backstabbing and murder.

Backstabbing and murder? You could pair MirrorHoshi with just about anyone and get that! I have always wondered how long it took MirrorHoshi to throw MirrorTravis under the bus?

I love ENTERPRISE, as much as the next Man. But I have to admit that I did not enjoy the forced "romance" betwixt Archer and Hernandez. They had no chemistry, and I was not all convinced that they'd ever been involved with eachother. I was fine with her as Captain of Columbia and all of that, I didn't care about that part. I just did not find her to be an appropriate love interest for Jonathan.

Although, when he was hiking with her and finally felt compelled to tell her what was happening to him, inside ... her sympathy seemed very genuine. When he tells her he "lost something" and doesn't know how to get it back, I believed her heart broke for him, but when she offered to help him reclaim it ... egads! It just ruined it, for me. They should've just been really good friends, maybe with a past that was very distant, but with no intentions of hooking up again, ever.

I don't think it was meant to be a "romance".

He needed help and she obliged.

Yes, it's seeming that way. When she appears out of nowhere and surprises Archer up on the hill, it seems she had every intention of it, from the onset.

It's sometimes hard, though, to recognise what's meant to be a romance, verses a one night stand on STAR TREK. In the Classic Series, for example ... Captain Kirk considered an android he'd only spent ten minutes with as the greatest love of his life, and had his pants on, the whole time. In fact, he unashamedly fought an ancient Leonardo da Vinci in a fist fight over her ... and would've won, had she not abruptly malfunctioned, right at the pivotal moment, as the scales were about to tip in Kirk's favour. But that's entertainment ... what we crave for, inside.

I like Enterprise too. Just watched S03E07 - the shipment (that the english name ?) This episode is simply as good as Star Trek gets, a total highlight with the ape scientist and Archer learning to trust each other, it's simply beautiful.

Welcome to the Enterprise thread! It took me a minute to figure out what S03E07 meant....

I was very impressed by The Shipment first time I saw it, because it's quite bold in pushing the plot forward, and creating a sense of danger and intrigue. My opinion has gone down a bit since then, as it feels a bit small-scale and procedural, but who knows? My opinion might go up again on my next viewing.

Watching it right now.

First time since it was originally broadcast.

I like it much more now.

But I've also been drinking beer

I had recently purchases Enterprise on Blu Ray and I'm looking forward to the special features. I've heard they are really good.

So do I.

It and DS9 are my favorites.

No idea why the hate for it. I suppose if people built up their own canon on late Earth/early Federation prior to viewing it, they might have some biases going into it. I never did that.

I've just finished rewatching season 1, and have been making notes for a "how to watch Enterprise" blog entry, i.e. must watch (high quality &/or core continuity) and must skip. I was surprised to see a few episodes go up in my estimation:

Fight or Flight - This one often gets overlooked, but it's very well put together, and really establishes our crew are innocents in space.
Detained - The prison-break story that gives the most development to the Suliban that they ever got.
Fallen Hero - This is the one that surprised me. I guess previously I was put off balance by the 'unusual' guest Vulcan, but this is a neat little ep, with some intrigue about what's going on, and a great chase scene where they are increasing the NX-01 toward its (theoretical) maximum speed. There are also some enjoyable character moments as the crew look forward to getting some shore leave (shame the actual shore leave was so lame).

There's some great scenes in the episodes you mentioned Eyerist. Fight or flight has some very tense scenes in it. And Detained with the Suliban break out was intriguing. I really liked Fallen Hero and seeing T'Pol's scenes with the Vulcan ambassador and saying she's learned to trust Archer and his crew. That the Vulcans did hold back the human's when it came to developing their warp program. Made the humans to distrust the Vulcans. That they needed to give Starfleet some more leeway that the Vulcans were trying to be too controlling of Starfleet and Earth policy on Enrterprise's missions out in space.

I got my full journey box set today and why did they make the font on the back cover so hard to read. I'm wondering where all the cool special features are and the font is like 8 or smaller. Does anyone know a site where I can print out the disc contents and have it be readable? I guess they didn't put all the special features one he last disc of each season.

I'm a fan of the Trip& T'Pol relationship and enjoyed reading the fanfiction over the years. I also like it's been handled some of the Enterprise relaunch books.:adore:

I love -ENTERPRISE- in that Rick Berman continued to be concerned with keeping Gene Roddenberry's "vision" as much a part of it, as possible. The "flavour" of STAR TREK, if you like. And Jonathan Archer's endless infatuation with "exploring" and being an "explorer" embodies that, very nicely. There are things about the show that should've been handled better than they were and I've come a long way, in terms of my acceptance of Phlox.

I continue to be impressed that Jolene Blalock can truly act. I did - and do - feel, though, that the show was more interested in getting her into revealing attire, or situations, than in developing the character. But Jolene always spoke eloquently and intelligently, regardless of what her line actually was and although I didn't agree with her interpretation of Vulcans, she wasn't far enough off the mark for me to ever be annoyed by it. She was very important to the show and seemed to be aware of that, in a concerned way. She never phoned-in a performance and always did what she could to enhance ratings.

Trip's "Good Ol' Boy" qualities were played up a little too much, for me. But he wanted to be likeable and Conner seemed to understand that ENT was mainly Jolene's show and seemed more reactionary with her, than trying to set the tone of their scenes, together. I just wish the show didn't try so hard to make us like him. He seemed to do alright, on his own. The rest of the cast was so overshadowed, though, that you couldn't help but notice. But the show's heart always seemed to be in the right place, even if the writing was poor, occasionally, or the actors weren't doing well. This show really wanted to entertain and it always made me want to let it. I love its optimism.
