The neo-noir feature is set in an alternative universe, in which the Soviet Union still stands. A group of individuals are culled from various satellite countries and turned into superheroes in order to protect the USSR from supernatural threats. Here's the IMDB synopsis:

"During the Cold War, an organization called 'Patriot' created a super-hero squad, which includes members of multiple soviet republics. For years, the heroes had to hide their identities, but in hard times they must show themselves again."

Hard to tell from that trailer but I like the idea of it.

Didn't someone do a communist Superman once?

The USSR doesn't look to be in very good shape in that trailer. All crumbling statues and such. Doesn't really tell us much, but I'm intrigued.

It's not really enough to judge the final movie, but it is a cool trailer.

I want to see a movie about their Energiya Buran project--with Gorby coming off as a villain--with brave chief designers disgusted at the cost of the Afghan invasion--and how it robbed space funding.

Red Son
the comic book The Red Star might also be worth a look
John Varley wrote a short story about a super hero from the Soviet Union, back in the '80's. The character's superhero identity was called "Bolshoi-Man", which his enemies quickly changed to "Bullshit"-Man.
