Fan Collective Ideas

Hello,

I've been a fan of the various Star Trek series ever since I was a kid. Lately, I've been collecting the old Star Trek Fan Collectives off of Amazon. I recently got the Klingon fan collective from a friend of mine and I recently ordered the one about alternate realities. The fan collective got me thinking. What would one about the Cardassians be like?

I put this idea to the test and I bought the following episodes off of Itunes. So far it's shaping up to be decent. Here's what I have so far:

Star Trek: The Next Generation:

The Wounded
Ensign Ro

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine:

Duet
What You Leave Behind parts 1 and 2

Star Trek: Voyager:

Basics Parts 1 and 2

What do you think of this collective? What more do you think needs to be added? I already have my eye on Chain of Command parts 1 and 2 from TNG, The Wire from Deep Space Nine and that's all I can think of right now. What else could be added? I know Deep Space Nine is full of Cardassian related eps. I was just curious if a fan collective about the Cardassians could be made.

Any help would be appreciated. I was also thinking of a Ferengi one. I wonder if that would work. I know Last Outpost, The Price, False Profits and a few good Ferengi eps would be okay. Romulans would be good too. Not sure how that would go.

I just thought of another episode with the help of a friend. For some reason I can't edit the thread to include it.

What about the episode where Ro Laren joins the Maquis? "Preemptive Strike" was the name, I believe.

I would replace Voyager's "Basics" with "Future's End." Otherwise, I'm not sanguine on Fan Collectives, per se. I got the Captain Picard one and it really sucked. I like "Family" and "Sarek" and the rest I'd replace with other shows centering around Jean-Luc. I would've just preferred to have a "Private Collective" instead of a "Fan Collective." Let me choose, specifically, what shows I want and I'll keep coming back for more of the same. Fans like a lot of things that I don't feel are quite up to snuff and they often have sentimental reasons for that, it seems like. But as long as there's a market for Fan Collectives, then I hope we do see more of them. And, for the most part, your list isn't a bad start ...

Heh. I wasn't sure what to call it other than "Fan Collective". In my Itunes playlist I call it "Keeping Up with the Cardassians". because I am probably not the first person to make that joke. =D. I hope we see more fan collectives or collectives in general, too. I wish I could afford the season dvd sets. That would be awesome.

Thanks for the compliment. Will check out Future's End. I remember it being okay. Nothing really offensive. Mainly because Neelix was kept away from the plot. =D

Haha ... If there was a Neelix Fan Collective, then "Fair Trade" would surely have to be on it. I saw that particular show recently and Kate does that "I'm so disappointed and hurt because of you" thing so well, with him, at the end. Then, as he walks away, she smirks slightly, like, "... he's such a loveable idiot." I generally don't care for Ethan Phillips as an actor. I just don't see what the draw is, there. But as the only latex-headed regular, his job was probably the only one that was secure. I hear you about the price of an entire season of anything - most of which has episodes that are just ... OK.

And it's nice, anyway, just to have a quick thing to have handy, with a few episodes on it that really aren't too bad. Sometimes a Fan Collective is just what you need, when you don't care what it is, you just know you've got to get your STAR TREK fix. Believe me, I know what that's like. I've thrown in my Picard Fan Collective once or twice, just because I didn't feel like fishing through my other seasons. But quick and easy isn't always satisfying ... sometimes I've got to go digging for "The Perfect Mate" or something, if I really want a good Picard show.

And it would all end when he meets up with that hedgehog family living in an asteroid. Sometimes I think they deliberately wrote Neelix to be insufferable just to make the fans angry. I admit I laughed when Tuvok had that hologram of Neelix. Neelix is like the ultimate test of endurance.

It might be a while but the next collective I'll check out is probably the Borg. I'm glad the Alternate reality one has a few of my favorite Voyager eps. I have a few of them.

I wouldn't mind a Reg Barclay collection. You can see him grow from the guy who was addicted to the holodeck to the guy who helped bring Voyager home.

Really wishing these sets had more DS9 episodes. But, I'll make up for it with the Cardassian playlist. There's just so many good ones.

And lol. I caught that the first time I saw it. Kate Mulgrew really worked on that show. She seemed to have fun in the role and it shows with her acting.

I didn`t actually understand, you want to create the game devoted to Star Trek? I have an experience, so will be at your service if you want to make it.. Or you just may know the opinion about the further series and the expectations of Trekbbs readers?)

Huh? No. No. I was just asking for ideas on what to include for a "Cardassians" or a "Ferengi" related episode playlist on Itunes. For example, for the Cardassians I have:

The Wounded, Ensign Ro, Chain of Command, Preeemptive Strike from TNG

DS9 has Emissary, Duet and What You Leave Behind Parts 1 and 2.

Not sure what other Cardassian related episodes to add.

On the Ferengi side, I was thinking Last Outpost, The Price, False Profits, Magnificent Ferengi, Little Green Men and a couple others.

All ideas are welcome.
