Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

They let me keep the weird pink pig-face cake mold (that they sent me instead of the Tholian ship) as well- trouble was finding somebody else to give it too...
 Man, you gotta post a pic of that thing. I can sort of envision what it looks like but I am genuinely curious.

It is supposed to be 'Piglet' from Winnie the Pooh I think...

When you are opening up a box and expect to see a Tholian Starship and this thing is staring up at you it can be rather unsettling...

Just imagine...

If "In a Mirror, Darkly" hadn't revealed what the Tholians really looked like, they could've said that was one of them! :guffaw:

Eaglemoss would only ever answer my emails if I made a major public fuss over everything (went months with an unfulfilled order without a word back :/) and now after seeing Piglet.... I feel a little silly about my last complaint :p

I had to send back an item once. I used a freepost address they gave me when asked.

I did the same as well when they sent me two classic Enterprises.

Strangely though, I had to chase them up for information on how to return it :/

To be honest they didn't seem that bothered. Such losses are probably factored into their business plan to some extent. I kept the extra USS Thunderchild than they sent me.

 Wow...just...wow. Yeah, I think it definitely would have taken my poor brain several seconds to process that visual information if I saw it staring back at me upon opening the box. I'd chalk this one up to one of the unexplained mysteries of the universe - Chaos Theory, an' all that... :D

I did not even know Eaglemoss sold such a thing- I knew they had some Batmobiles, Marvel characters and I think some Bond cars- any of those would have been preferable to that pink horror...

I did not waste time with emails- I called their customer service number
1-866-922-8680 (7am-3pm EST Mon-Fri)
It took a while to get the guy on the phone to understand what the problem was. I guess he thought everyone would love a Piglet.

After this I am just going to buy the ships I want for my collection through Amazon, MiM or eBay...

I bailed out at issue 15 and have only bought the NCC-1701 issue 50 directly from Eaglemoss since then. I just don't have the space for a large collection of mostly obscure ships from JJverse, Voyager and Enterprise, and I'd rather do other things with the money.

^^^ If I were a truly practical person, I should have restricted my purchases in that way. Unfortunately, my OCD completionist collector's bug kicked in (particularly exploiting my weakness for starship design) and I wound up being a subscriber, despite my relative indifference towards some of the ships that have been released. Quite early on, too. :)

Had they been Babylon 5 ships, I'd probably still be collecting. However, those are never going to materialise so my bank balance is safe. I still have an itch to fill in the gaps for the Enterprise B, C, and E but Eaglemoss seem to be perpetually out of stock.

Damn. I hope that's not an indication of the availability for the ISS Enterprise and Voyager plaque. I put myself on a notify list when they became available last month. Still no word. They must have sold out of those things quick! :(

I have a spare unopened E.

I got the Nausicaan fighter today. Frankly, it's not a terribly exciting ship (though they did a great job with it), but I was at a nearby collectible store, asking about what they had and what they could get. It was the only one there that I didn't have and the price was good, so I figured why not.

I'm now up to sixteen ships, with two more on the way. I still wish I had a subscription, but my current income doesn't really justify putting that much on my credit card.

I'm still working out a space issue. The cheap bookcase I bought holds four rows of twelve each, so once I get more than 48 (as I'm sure I will), I'll have to look into other options.

You'll have to keep checking the store, unfortunately. Notifications don't work.

First noticed that when I had issues with an order that never arrived. Checked the store on the due date and it was out of stock.

Took two months for them to tell me that they were sending it when it was back in stock. A month after that I found out it had been in stock two weeks - notification I set up didn't work, and they'd forgot to actually send it and needed chasing again :(

You know... I don't think I've had a single positive experience with their store other than accidentally getting two issue 50's (though - thats not what I ordered :p)

Hmm...Well, that's a bit disconcerting.

Thank you for the heads' up on that one. I will start checking there more regularly then.

Heh, pretty much the same thing for me. I don't even remember most of the random alien-of-the-week ships, so most of mine have been squirreled away in a tote. And lately, I think I have been enjoying the magazines more than the ships, lol.

Begone, tempter! ;)

Itch, itch, itch...

If you want it'll be yours for the normal price plus postage.
