The exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3) are charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering national or international amateur sports competition, and preventing cruelty to children or animals.

So is he *really* going to approach the IRS and claim he's running an educational foundation?

Maybe he's educating us as to how NOT to do a fan film?

Reading the IRS literature about 501(c)(3) makes me think ever further he doesn't know what a can of worms he's opening coming for that status.

I think if he goes for that, Paramount/CBS might be the least of his problems...

He could attempt to copy--heh--the Star Trek Continues argument. They're claiming exemption under the artistic, educational, and scientific categories.

Is there anywhere to easily find (Link) the ST:C non profit filing? Peters keeps spouting out at the mouth that he's the only one being transparent... I would love to show him how transparency is really done...

I'm sure most everyone (except Richard Hatch) will be leery of signing on while the production is under threat of lawsuit. I imagine we'll see casting delays as February approaches.

Holy Sam Hell... that's incredibly detailed... WOW...

Looks like the majority of their (recurring) expense is paying for travel and hotels for their cast and crew...

Looks like the production still owes Vic 25K from what he loaned them, AND he wrote that off... WOW.....

Is that what filing look like in the US? I am a trustee of a charity in the UK and I'd never send off such a 'conversational' application.

With the assistance of CBS, he's about to educate his donors and fans regarding the realities of copyright law versus wishful thinking about same.

And yet Alec is collecting $38k from this because, well, according to him, why should he work 60 hours a week for free?

About the only defense I can think of for Axanar, is the: "CBS are big meanies" gambit. Not sure they're going to get a jury to go along with that one.

I am beyond disgusted....

Slightly off topic, but lets make these guys honorary members of the forum
Wouldn't it be a hoot in 2017's series came from those note
CBS is keeping watch on a lot of stuff and taking action.

I really think they should directly issue a statement to notify everyone at once what their intentions are rather than having this sort of thing just filter through via hearsay and rumor.

Cheaper this way and it scares the ones that CBS hasn't found out about yet.

So, I am so sorry I didn't screen cap it, it has since been deleted, but on the Bridge a Restoration project page, Peters, said that Axanar was filing for Tax exempt status.... I didn't think of it then, but here we are 2 years into their fundraising, where over $1,000,000 has been raised, and they weren't "tax exempt" before.... This guy has no clue what he is doing....

Wonder how many donors have tried to take Axanar donations as tax deductions.

I notice people saying Axanar coffee is a separate concern but notice in the about us:

We sent 20 pounds of coffee with a custom label to Axanar Productions as a gift. Alec then approached us to do a line of coffee to help with fundraising, this is the result.
