I am an attorney (retired).
Fer realz.
As in, I actually passed the New York Bar, practiced and am still in good standing with them.
I'd love to see just WTF he thinks his defense is. Fair use? Transformative works? 'Cause those tend to work (kind of) when use is small and not for profit. They also work when you don't borrow too much and you change a lot. See Definition of Transformative Works and Fair Use.
Just for shits and giggles, for folks with a extra ticket price or a coupon for a freebie, by a ticket for Alec Peters or any of the faithful boycotters on Facebook and gifted them a ticket for Star Trek Beyond. Watch rage ensue.
Alec,
I'm going to buy you a ticket to Beyond and a year's subscription to CBS All Access. Even if you don't use it, I thought you'd like to know that someone has spent the money to make sure Star Trek gets seen.
LLAP,

Some insiders have managed to capture footage of Alec Peters in talks with CBS.

He's pulling STC into it again. Authors who are shills for Star Trek Continues? I don't know whether to LMAO or smh.
Fucker is making me feel worried for New Voyages and (no offense to the New Voyage folks) I don't even like New Voyages. If there is heads that roll over this, I hope that guys at STC and NV/PII manage to avoid the swing of the axe. I figure Renegades is going to be next on the list, they've not made as much noise and been as dumbass as Axanar but they've got their fair bit of press. He's pulling STC into it again. I don't know whether to LMAO or smh.

Q: What do you call the attorney who graduated last in his class?
A: Alec Peters.

Got a link? I'd love to see who Peters is blaming now.
Because as we all know, it's everyone else's fault. He's the victim here!
Yeup. I'm trying to set up some online stuff (nothing big or fan related, just small stuff) and it's been a headache to find a lawyer that handles IP/Copyright law. A couple flat out said that that didn't get into to it cause it to complicated and time consuming and there isn't enough demand outside big media-corporations.I am an attorney (retired).

Oh brother ... Peter's comment on Trekmovie. Whew ... he's unhinged on all fronts.
Although I was curious to see if Peters was actually an attorney. Because he tosses that around a lot in an appeal to authority.
He is — he passed the North Carolina State Bar in 1988. However, he's listed as inactive on the State Bar directory.
The way I found that out is through an LA Times article that spotlighted Peter's when he was a men's volleyball coach, which was something listed in his Propworx bio. So I went to the North Carolina State Bar site and typed him into the directory.
However, I wonder what kind of lawyer. There's no listing of what type of law he practiced. IP and copyright law is a different beast than say property law or criminal law.
So while he may be an attorney, he's expertise may not lend itself to speaking with authority about copyright law.
He needs more sushi.......it seems to calm his inner-Garth. Maybe a Snickers. #diva
