Assorted Star Trek Fan Films are being removed from You Tube.

Fleet Captain
In Memoriam
The latest one is Episode 1 of Star Trek: Renegades.
Star Trek: Renegades
(Pilot, Episode 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE2Wgop9VLM (1:28:04). (Released 8/24/2015)

Earlier this week, Starship Saladin was removed from You Tube, and the entire channel shut down.

Both is these videos were removed NOT for copyright violation but under You Tube's "policy against spam, scams, and commercially deceptive content."

In March of 2014, Curt Danhauser's Star Trek: Animated was taken down, allegedly due to a copyright claim by CBS. That was never resolved, and the video is still down. My understanding is that CBS denied asking that this film be removed, however.

As far as I have heard, similar films on Vimeo have not suffered similar fates.

Interesting. I wonder if it's one of those cases where something in the video finally triggered one of their DMCA scans or if someone flagged the items in question, much as happened to that one episode of STC. They didn't yank OGAM for instance. I guess we'll see if it's an isolated thing or if it spreads.

As to Saladin, are you sure the owner of the channel didn't shut it down? Was it for certain YouTube that did it?

It seems the Starship Saladin youtube channel has been reinstated and he is waiting to see if they also reinstate the episode that was pulled.

It would be interesting to know for sure what happened. There was mention of an unauthorized microsoft edge login in the comments of the Starship Saladin Facebook page. I wonder if that played a part?

Yes, Maurice, I PM with the creator of Starship Saladin with some regularity. He did not take anything down.

Thanks for that update, CJCade. Yes, I suggested Ken mention that illegal access to You Tube, and it seems to have done the trick for that channel, at least for now.

Curt Danhauser's Star Trek: Animated is on youtube now.

The Channel was never taken down. His first full-length episode, "And Let the Heavens Fall" was taken down. It is still down. He actually reminded me when I posted about what happened this week. I edited my postings to include what happened to him.

The Star Trek Renegades pilot removal has nothing to do with CBS at all. It's YouTube be stupid as usual (wouldn't be the first time). Hope to get it back up there soon.

All the Star Trek Continues eppies are up. Even The White Iris. And that was the one that was taken down for copyright violation, apparently. Vic and his group had been talking to CBS about it.

Youtube drives me nuts. I hope you guys are able to get it back up soon.

The pilot is back up with the original view numbers (over a million)! Took a couple days but we are all good now.

It's all automatic. When I ran NASA TV's Youtube channel we got dinged because we uploaded our end of an interview between an astronaut on station and some network.

The audio from the network tripped their alarm and it was pulled down. I actually had to explain to a human that NASA was the one who put the human up there in the first place.

*shakes fist angrily*

Our infraction actually got our account locked so I had to get someone on ASAP.
